Anyone seen it yet? I think it actually comes out Friday but I caught a preview - I LOVED it. Went without any children and I think I enjoyed it more than anyone else in the cinema! Wasn't expecting much but it really is a gem of a film - so many pop culture references, an engaging plot, cute animation, humour that would suit kids as much as it does adults. The only dodgy bit is Shakira voicing a gazelle pop star (called...Gazelle Hmm) which just seems a bit pointless, but the rest of it is just great. Heartily recommend it to anyone at a loose end this weekend!

We are planning on seeing it next week. We've seen the trailer (with the sloth) and found that very funny. Looking forward to it.

Adored it. Made DD want to join the police. Don't diss Shakira, that song is our current family anthem. Wink

What is in it that has it rated PG?

Want to take my 7yo DD but she can be sensitive at times. Also worried that a lot of it will go over her head if its PG.

Mine both coped at 3 and 5 both in plot and scary bits. But there ARE scary bits, namely wolves and animals' eyes going a bit freaky when infected. One jump moment and lots of mild peril from about half way in but not as scary as Watership down no way near

Took my 7 year old dd yesterday and she loved it she never moved through the whole movie. I loved it too really good movie!

I loved it, especially the digs at frozen, Weaselton and "life isn't a fairytale where you sing some insipid little song and your dreams come true so let it go!" GrinGrin

I went tonight with 6yo GD we laughed so much, its brilliant.
I we really hope they do a follow up. I cannot think of any other children's movie that I have enjoyed so much.

In fact I can't recall any film that has made me laugh like that

We went to see it yesterday with DS1 (11) and DS2 (8), we loved it as much as they did. Some very good, clever references such as the Frozen one, my favourite though had to be the nod to Breaking Bad.

Loved this film - we seem to be on a run of good 'uns after this and Kung Fu Panda 3 (before that it was - shudder - Alvin and the Sodding Chipmunks).

Ludwsys · 03/04/2016 19:20

Saw this last week and absolutely loved it, my favourite animation by a long way.

ineedaholidaynow · 03/04/2016 19:26

Loved this film. DH and I were comparing the film references etc we noticed, I appeared to have missed quite a few. Will need to watch it again when it comes out on DVD.

It's brilliant - clever, funny, hilarious, but with some really valid points about racism and sexism. And I absolutely loved the sloths! Not often I laugh out loud in a film!

AmberGreyson · 25/04/2016 08:50
