Anyone got any recommendation of good scary films? I haven't seen one that's actually scared me for a long time.

The vanishing

Littlec656 · 23/01/2016 20:08

Exorcist still freaks me out to this day. Would never watch it alone!

Paranormal activity in the cinema scared me too. However I've seen it since and it's not had the same effect

MingZillas · 23/01/2016 20:09

The Descent and Descent 2.

MingZillas · 23/01/2016 20:09

The Conjuring as well.

HairySubject · 23/01/2016 20:10

Insidious was a bit scary and the one where they move into a house because the dad writes crime books.

Ridingthegravytrain · 23/01/2016 20:12

Hairy do you mean sinister? That was good

coughingbean · 23/01/2016 20:12

Second sinister

FrannySalinger · 23/01/2016 20:13

Eden Lake. Brrrrr.

Pootle40 · 23/01/2016 20:14

Sinister is a good one

Ilovenannyplum · 23/01/2016 20:14

I didn't think Sinister was that good or scary but The Conjuring really did scare me and I won't watch it again Confused

Pootle40 · 23/01/2016 20:14

Black Christmas from the 70s

gamerchick · 23/01/2016 20:15

Shuttle... 2009, I thought it would be a pile of but the end stayed in my heebie jeebie part of the brain.

And broken which kept me in a high state of anxiety all the way through.

NerrSnerr · 23/01/2016 20:15

Pet Semetary freaks me out. The book and the film. My husband can't watch The Ring as it really freaks him out.

revealall · 23/01/2016 20:15

The Ring is pretty scary. Just when you feel sorry for her you realise she is actually truly hateful. Nice and arty too.
Depends what you find chilling though.

MistressMerryWeather · 23/01/2016 20:17

Mama

Tummyrumbled · 23/01/2016 20:18

The Ring (Japanese version)
Ju-on
A Tale of Two sisters (Koren version)

The Shining
The Exorcist

The Blair Witch Project

RiverTam · 23/01/2016 20:19

The Woman in Black. Much as I love Daniel Radcliffe I had to watch the whole thing through my hair, hoping and praying that my chum would want to leave the cinema. And then I got a cab home as I was too scared to wait at a deserted station. Proper old school scary.

StopLaughingDrRoss · 23/01/2016 20:19

Gamerchick - do you mean Broken with Tim Roth in it?

And I don't know if scary but plain uncomfortable, you can't beat the original Evil Dead.

Ilovenannyplum · 23/01/2016 20:19

@revealall

I had mentally blocked the ring out, that was really creepy. I threw the DVD away after I watched it, I didn't want it in my house! wimp

That and the grudge. Both binned.

Peevedquitter · 23/01/2016 20:20

I watched a film on Netflix called Shutter, very freaky.

Agree with The Descent and The Conjuring.

StopLaughingDrRoss · 23/01/2016 20:20

X-post with your link Grin Very different film!!

StrattersDD · 23/01/2016 20:20

I love stuff like The Conjouring, I've seen almost every single one of these Blush is it possible that I've seen all the good ones? Shock

I found Hostel and Saw disturbing.

I know they are old now though

Shudder

Ridingthegravytrain · 23/01/2016 20:21

Yeah I am creeped out by all the Japanese remakes. Shutter is good too

The grudge really scared me. I'm only scared by supernatural horror.
