Meryl Streep is fantastic in this film. I am a serious Meryl fan and I could watch her all day long, but I can honestly say that yet again she knocks it out the park. I was lucky enough to go to a preview screening and I was seriously impressed. Her real life daughter is in it too. Watching them together is so interesting. To think she came to this not being able to play the guitar!

I watched her daughter in The Good Wife for ages without realising the connection!

Have missed any reviews/build up to this movie so know nothing about it. Could Google, of course, but have decided not to. Sometimes it's nice to see a film you know nothing about.

Meryl is, of course, pretty damned incredible. Some people slate her a bit but she can do everything, it's amazing how talented she is.

I don't feel the need to see the film after seeing the trailer!!!

She left her kids for years then was surprised and hurt that they are hurt and damaged. However all was fixed by hijacking her son's quiet wedding with a concert with her band.

Agree that I adore Meryl Streep and will watch her in anything, but I thought the movie was very disappointing, a little too hysterical and very predictable. I love the posters of Streep in her R&R get-up, though.

I know what you mean about the storyline. I was just blown away by Meryl. Getting up on a stage like that and performing is pretty awesome. Shame the story was quite so Hollywoodfied IYSWIM.
I'm curious as to why they feel the need to do that. Pure commercialism?

Meryl Streep is incredibly overrated. I've never got the hype and she chooses awful films to be in.

Merely Streep was great in her role as an ageing rocker. Rick Springfield was great as her boyfriend. The story, how ever was predictable, drawn out and a bit tiresome. As if playing a couple of songs makes up for years of hurt and rejection.

Dissapointing to say the least.

I saw the trailer and nearly died with embarrassment for her and the whole film! DH and I just appalled. Ugh. Absolutely no incentive to see it!

Meryl Streep was, as usual utterly fantastic... Her RL daughter is a slow burn, but wow she's good!
Kline and Springfield are excellent as. ExH and boyfriend.

They all acted this pitiful script off the screen- isn't it the same writer as Juno-pity as I loved that!
