Inside out - Lava short. Grownups crying??

I found it bizarre. Yet grownups cried over it.

Am I numb? I didn't cry at Bambi but AI had me distraught.

The lava short was just odd IMO.

It made my ears bleed

FriteFuaite · 14/08/2015 23:27

I hated the lava short!! It went on for too long and the song was shite Grin

NiceCardigan · 14/08/2015 23:28

I keep getting the tune in my head very annoying

FrancesHouseman · 14/08/2015 23:29

Massive discrepancy lookswise between the haggard man volcano and the beautiful lady volcano. I did quite like it though otherwise.

starlight2007 · 14/08/2015 23:29

aww I enjoyed it ..didn't cry mind

Kangaroosjump · 14/08/2015 23:31

I quite enjoyed it but I seem desperately against the grain in MN these days

Hellionandfriends · 14/08/2015 23:31

Totally bonkers but I quite liked it. It could have been a little shorter maybe?

WishITookLifeSeriously · 14/08/2015 23:31

I cried at Inside Out. It was the part where the elephant jumps out of the rocket so Joy can get out of the pile of forgotten memories. In fact, we're going to see it again so I'll probably cry some more!

FreakinScaryCaaw · 14/08/2015 23:32

Thankfully I've forgotten the song.

I also found it very annoying. Didn't realise that Pixar usually do shorts and thought it was part of the main film. Wondered what I'd let myself in for. YY Frances, it wound me up that the female volcano was young and pretty and the male was basically an old man.

MuddhaOfSuburbia · 14/08/2015 23:37

it was awful

and that lover/lava pun?

purLEEEEASE

11yo turned to me with a WTF?? look

MuddhaOfSuburbia · 14/08/2015 23:39

I greeted loads in the film, tho

not one to see when you have a sad child

blueistheonlycolourwefeel · 14/08/2015 23:44

I SOBBED. And at inside out.
hormonal? Me??!

xavierfondue · 14/08/2015 23:45

la la la l al aa someone above
Give me someone to larrvvvaaa.

It doesn't even rhyme.

I cried buckets over Inside Out. We moved and DS hasn't made any friends yet. He told his older sister that he wished there was an Inside Out character called Loneliness. I cried even more when I heard that.

TwoLeftSocks · 14/08/2015 23:50

I quite liked it, other than it's geological inaccuracies. That's not how island chains work, the old one doesn't just become un-extinct!

The film itself, I only didn't blub as I was staying strong for the DCs, one of whom was ready to leave, he was so scared. I moved when I was 14 and have a lot of sadness from then.

BatmanLovesMenInEyeliner · 15/08/2015 00:39

I cried, and I'm not ashamed to admit it Grin

You just have to suspend disbelief a bit (after all, is a volcano can sing, why not unextinct itself?). And he looked like a nice volcano, who deserved a bit of love. Hope springs eternal...

Holberg · 15/08/2015 00:42

I haven't seen this one yet, but the 'Feast' short that showed before Big Hero Six was horrible too.

HeartsTrumpDiamonds · 15/08/2015 00:43

It rhymes in an American accent.

We all really liked it & have watched it on YouTube and sung along several times since.

I love shorts at the beginning of films - they are like lovely little unexpected amuses bouches for your eyes and ears.

Kaekae · 15/08/2015 01:01

The Lava short annoyed me, it went on for so long I thought it was the film at one point! I did shed a little tear at Inside Out though. The part with the imaginary friend made me think about my kids growing up and I don't want them too! (Sometimes). Grin

TwoLeftSocks · 15/08/2015 01:02

Yes I guess it was a singing cartoon volcano so it doesn't necessarily have to follow traditional tectonic activity.

MuddhaOfSuburbia · 16/08/2015 22:30

thanks to this thread me and my dds discussed this today- we'd forgotten it

we've been singing it ALL DAY

ffs

it's catchier on the second listen

Awholelottanosy · 16/08/2015 22:41

Is Inside Out worth seeing as an adult? I love a good cry at the movies!
