...what is it exactly about?

First saw about 20 minutes of it when I was about 12 in school (PE) and because I was talking through it, was told to leave the class and do a cross-country run and therefore missed it.

Has just been on Channel 5 today and I saw the first 5 minutes, DS demanded my attention, so TV off. Back on at 5.30pm and saw the last 5 minutes. So still none the wiser.

Have asked family and friends and they either can't remember or didn't know it in the first place.

It's bugging me not knowing, so anyone.....

Aw! Don't say that! I loved it. Abrahams wins. Liddle refused to run on the sabbeth, but ran in another race, which he won. True stories both. Liddle died in China in the second word war. Abrahams became the grand old man of British athletics, and coincidentaly was the time keeper for the first sub 4 minute mile!

Saw much of it for the first time today and thought it was dull, boring and pedestrian (ha ha for a film about running). I assumed it was about the 4 minute mile and then realised it was the 1920s.... Not up to the standard of say, Ghandi (sp?) or Passage to India around the same vintage I think.

all about the 1924 olympics and a bit about antisemitism in the british upper crust. saw it when it came out and cried buckets but was aged 11 at the time - saw it again about 5 years ago and thought it was deeply sugary and incomprehensible, although still a few tears when Liddell won the race 'God made me fast and when I run I feel his pleasure' - never heard of endorphins at that time I suppose. It looks extremely pretty and some of the acting is OK.

Thanks for the info.

Shall try to watch next time it is on, but at least I have some kind of understanding now!
