Basketball Diaries. I've never met a single person who has seen it and it's one of my favourites. Leonardo Dicaprio and Mark Wahlberg.

Like Crazy, pre Jennifer Lawrence being famous. Low budget and the cast had to make up 50% of the script.

Daydream nation. Stumbled across the trailer randomly on YouTube, decided to watch it. Really odd but turned out quite good.

Kids

Directed by Larry Clark. Really hard hitting but good film.

RunsWithScissors · 21/06/2015 18:08

expat I've seen that film, but being Canadian may play a part in it. ;-)

I've seen a lot of films that haven't been widely distributed, as I frequented the Toronto Film festival for years.

I can almost confidently submit "A Polish Vampire in Burbank". Not film festival, my sister and I spent a summer watching every horror film at our local video rental store.

I do my recommend this film.

MrsEvadneCake · 21/06/2015 18:08

The Owl. A vigilante who never sleeps! Lots of slow mo and flashback bits.

RunsWithScissors · 21/06/2015 18:08

do not recommend this film

daisyswirl · 21/06/2015 18:09

Raise the red lantern..Chinese film about an emperor choosing his next concubines and the scheming that went on between the women. Lovely costumes and scenery .

Once were warriors..new Zealand film about social problems amongst the Maori population. A bit violent but very powerful.

DoreenLethal · 21/06/2015 18:11

Un Chien Andalu - [1929] Surrealism film by Bunuel and Dali. No plotline but it can be found on Utube. The point was - there was no point.

I did Media and Popular Culture as part of my degree so watched a fair amount of odd and quite frankly bizarre films.

Hitch-hike [1977] was another.

wannabestressfree · 21/06/2015 18:12

Picnic at hanging rock is a very famous book!
My most memorable are
The hunchback hairball of LA
She's having a baby ( with Kevin bacon. My mum had it On video!)

TuckingFablet · 21/06/2015 18:13

the Tracey fragments. it's bizzare but brilliant

thisisnow · 21/06/2015 18:13

Sugarhouse? It had Andy Serkis in it playing some crazy drug lord.

The Black Balloon? 2 brothers in Australia, one autistic, quite sad.

The weirdest films are usually on at 2 in the morning when everyone is asleep I find!

Have seen Basketball Diaries a few times, I think a friend made me watch it growing up as there was a scene where she claimed you could see Leo Dicaprio's penis Grin Blush

RiverTam · 21/06/2015 18:13

I've seen Picnic at Hanging Rock, it's got Mrs Mangal of Neighbours fame in it! And I've seen Tim.
As part of my Lee Pace obsession I've watched an early film of his called The Fall, directed by Tarsem, very beautiful indeed. And he was in the film version of Miss Pettigrew lives for a Day, with Amy Adams, Frances McDormand and Ciarsn Hinds which was great.

BikeRunSki · 21/06/2015 18:14

I've seen "Welcome to the Dollhouse" more than once.

My obscure films are:
Priest
Soft Top Hard Shoulder
One Sunday in Hell

PickleSarnie · 21/06/2015 18:16

I've seen Basketball Diaries about five times. I had a mahoosive crush on Leo D

Bernard and the Genie is my favourite film ever. But no one has ever heard about it when I rave about its brilliance.

MakeItACider · 21/06/2015 18:17

Who's read the 'ending' to Picnic at Hanging Rock? It was released in the early 80s from memory. Apparently it was based on Aboriginal Dream Time and the publishers or somesuch decided the last chapter would be better off being dropped and it being left as a mystery.

toboldlygo · 21/06/2015 18:17

The Price of Milk is notable for being Karl Urban's film debut. I may or may not have watched his entire back catalogue. Blush

Anyone seen Maurice?

Lagoonablue · 21/06/2015 18:18

Upstream colour.

HopeClearwater · 21/06/2015 18:18

Happiness.

It's not exactly obscure. But I don't go round telling people about it. If you've seen it, then you'll know why.

expatinscotland · 21/06/2015 18:19

It was intense, wasn't it, Runs? I saw it in an arthouse cinema when it came out.

DextersMistress · 21/06/2015 18:19

Teeth.

Do not ever watch Teeth

Ridingthegravytrain · 21/06/2015 18:20

It's fairly recent so maybe not that obscure but a few months ago I watched what we do in the shadows. A vampire mockumentary/horror/comedy. It's brilliant

SaveOurBogBrushes · 21/06/2015 18:21

Last Days - a film about Kurt Cobain or an exercise in futility. I love Gus Van Sant's work but my goodness.

expatinscotland · 21/06/2015 18:23

A Summer Story, with Imogen Stubbs and James Wilby. It was sad as hell.

Wristy · 21/06/2015 18:23

I saw series 7 post battle royale so I think it lost a little something for me, still enjoyed it though.

I love intacto, Spanish number about people who can steal luck through touch.

SaveOurBogBrushes · 21/06/2015 18:24

The Name of the Rose (1986) not sure if it's that obscure but for some reason my French teachers showed it a few times. T'was odd.

serenaserene · 21/06/2015 18:25

Little Otik - a fairy tale about a tree stump baby!

thisisnow · 21/06/2015 18:28

haha Dexter I have heard about "Teeth"
