I can't remember the name of a film - please help!

I went to the UCI cinema in Swiss Cottage in 2001 to see Moulin Rouge when it was newly released. It was sold out, so I saw another film. I cannot for the life of me remember what this film was called and it is annoying the hell out of me.

Basic plot: A group of people are stuck in the US I think (I assume they are stuck, or they would surely leave) in the middle of nowhere in a hut/hotel/lodge type thing one night. One by one, they are killed. The film is about finding out which one of them is the killer.

It was a bit Hitchcock, I suppose. It was the first film I'd seen at that time built on this type of premise, and I quite enjoyed it.

Can anyone shed any light please?! I have looked through listing s for 2001 and nothing is jumping out at me.

Was it Joy Ride?

I don't know but if you post on one of the generic threads on IMDB someone there will definitely know!

HellKitty · 17/06/2015 07:54

I'm not leaving until the OP agrees it was Identity!

WellTidy · 17/06/2015 15:13

No no no. It can't be Identity. I wasn't living anywhere near Swiss Cottage by the time it was released in 2003.

It is so frustrating. I will post on that IMDB board, I think.

unfortunately, all I can remember of the film is the info (i know how limited it is!) I have already given.

www.imdb.com/title/tt0120753/ - The Million Dollar Hotel?

Though the UK release date could be a year before or after the US release date. If you only have US release dates to go by.

Th13rteen Ghosts? That was 2001 and they are stuck inside a house.

AlmaMartyr · 18/06/2015 17:43

Although it isn't at all Hitchcockian.

Session 9?

DriveLikeJehu · 20/06/2015 15:50

Disregarding the year, the film your description most reminds me of is April Fool's Day. UCI would have to have been equipped with a time machine for it to be that though. Is there a chance it was an older film with a special/anniversary release?

The times ng for Session 9 might fit. It was set in an abandoned mental institution and most of the clues were revealed on a tape recorder, if that rings any bells.
