Has anyone been to see it?

We've just got back. I cried.. It was so nostalgic.

Went with my DP and our 3 DS (18,16,14). We all thought it was rubbish, great dinosaurs, but a lame plot, terrible script and two siblings who didn't seem remotely related - but not a bad way to spend a wet afternoon and the running through the forest in 4inch heels was awesome Grin !!!

It was all right. The human characters were embarassingly badly written.
Pratt was really boring Sad
Also yes wtf, running away from dinosaurs in high heels. Not something anyone would do ever.

The petting zoo was so cute...

I think it would be too much for younger children imho

I enjoyed it. I think the original did a better job of conveying the wonder of being able to see live dinosaurs but then I suppose that was part of the point of this one - they had already become a bit passe. The children in it weren't as annoyingly precocious as those in the first film either.

All that aside, I saw this on the interwebs and I think it had a good point.

Definitely do not bring younger children. It's intense. Lots of people killed.

Howard those giant hamster balls were just an incredibly bad idea for all sorts of reasons.

Surely it depends on the child hence 12A. There were a lot of younger children watching.
If they have seen the other films they will be fine. This one is no 'worse' than the first one that's rated PG.

Loved it. Watched it this morning in 3d. Took DS 8 and he was fine watching it.

A little boy was sitting behind us. He looked about 5. He didn't seem to be enjoying it at all and his mum took him out a couple of times.

I'm wondering if it would be ok for my nearly 6 yo. He doesn't tend to scare easily and was fine watching all the Star Wars films (DH let him watch Episode III and I had no idea it was a 12). DH is going to try and watch it whilst he's working away to see if he thinks he's be happy with DS watching it.

I think it's a bit intense for younger kids. a lot of frightening bits, blood splatter and people dying. Like the original.

There were at least 4 kids that were taken out in tears by their parents in the cinema.

I'd say this one was definitely gorier than the original. They both have a lot of peril but this one has much more blood being sprayed around and the dinosaur attacks on people are more graphic. There's a good overview here.

BriarRainbowshimmer · 14/06/2015 21:06

It has more and more graphic deaths than the original.
One death scene was particularly upsetting - overly long.

Howard that overview was really useful, thanks for postingSmile

Thank you howard, I don't do the cinema, DH does, I have told hi, DS is not to convince him to take him under any circumstances.

Loved it. Such a homage to the original but still brought enough new thrills and characters. And all without the OTT CIG, too many characters, too much action, too much everything (yes, you- new Avengers movie).

It didnt quite do it for me, but I dont like Chris Pratt, he always seems a bit gormless.
There wasnt enough suspense or contrast between the commercial side and the scary side of things. Not enough Jaws factor.

Report
Bambambini · 14/06/2015 22:11

I does have a much gorier and higher body count. Took my nearly 10 yr old and was worried. Definitely wouldn't take younger kids.

I enjoyed it much more than I expected, though yes, some of it was v scary indeed.

SPOILERS AHOY BELOW!

Plot annoyance: when the kids finally meet Claire, they see her shooting a pterosaur off Chris Pratt's face. Yet when they all get in the car and say "can we stick with you" and Claire replies "I'll never leave you again", they shout "we meant him!" re Chris Pratt. But at this point all the badassery they've seen is Claire's badassery. Are we to deduct that the two kids are horrible little sexist shits who assume Chris Pratt will be better at badassery, even though the only evidence they have personally seen is to the contrary?

Also: Blue. Awwwwww.

Enjoyed the film very much. Thought the final fight seen between the TRex & monster was too silly as after the TRex was victorious it gave a little conscientious Grrrrr and went off on its merry was instead of rampaging through the park :)

Absolutely loved it - did anyone notice the nod (or just blatant rip off?) to Aliens?

Report

Love the listing on IMDb, included is 'A man is eaten by a dinosaur'

reeeeaaally??? Grin

Saw it yesterday, two little girls about 5 or 6ish in front of me. They went to the loo at least 8 times during the film (on their own while the parents carried on watching) and looked a little pale and unexcited afterwards so I assume they were scared Sad.

DH was scared of the dinosaurs Grin Grin
