Cinderella?

Taking DD to see it on Sunday, but I'm a tad nervous. What can I expect here? The trailer makes her look as wet, limp and useless as a cold flannel in a forgotten bath.

At least Drew Barrowmore got to strut around being angry!

It's ok. Cinderella is a bit wet and annoying but the other actors are good. Prince Charming has very nice eyes which makes the whole thing far more bearable.

MrsWembley · 10/04/2015 10:10

He does look rather... nice in the trailer.Wink

I was at a child and work free loose end yesterday and went to see it on a whim. I expected to cringe throughout as I dont really go for the princess nonsense usually but Mark Kermode said it was good. I really liked it! I didn't think Cinderella was wet at all. She was just a victim of circumstance, and she made the best of a bad lot. I nthjoughtbthe prince was a bit boring though- much better with a bit of stubble and a wolf!

MrsWembley · 10/04/2015 17:37

Well, that makes me feel a bit better If Kermode likes it, it must be ok!

Being a disney film it stays true to the disney story, which I was somewhat disappointed by if I'm honest.
I was also disappointed that HBC wasn't in it more than she was.

But it was good and we did enjoy it.

I do think Richard Madden is substantially more attractive with a bit of facial hair though.

fancyanotherfez · 10/04/2015 21:52

HBC was brilliant, as was Cate Blanchett. Agree re Richard Madden, and the strangely smooth crotch was just off putting! Grin

MrsWembley · 14/04/2015 21:37

Ok...

I cried. Not just once, not twice, but three times. Bloody Disney and the fascincation they have with death!!!

But I did enjoy it. She wasn't wet, just overly lovely, which (I suppose) was the point of the character, what with her needing to be being deserving of the change in fortune and all that. I did like the fact that her and the prince didn't just fall in love at first sight, but actually spent time talking to each other (even if it was only a few hoursGrin), and that she showed some gumption when she first met him.

The supporting cast was a treat and many were badly underused - Rob Brydon and Helena Bonham-Carter particularly in their 'blink and you'll miss it' moments. I'm just glad DD chose her loo-breaks when she did (though I did end up not seeing the losing of the shoeSad - ah well, that's what DVDs are for...)

And yy to the 'strangely smooth crotch' - reminded me of a manequin! God forbid there should be any thought of sexual matters!Shock

Which one was Drew Barrymore?!
I loved it Smile

kissedbyamoonbeammyarse · 14/04/2015 21:44

DD and I enjoyed it. We only went to see Frozen Blush but I will get the cinders dvd too.

MrsWembley · 14/04/2015 21:53

Sorry for the misunderstanding, esiotrotGrin.

Drew Barrowmore stared in Ever After, which was a Cinderella style story, but without the magic

I loved it - Cinderella is one of my least favourite stories (have princess obsessed dd) but they made her as un-wussy as possible while working with a pretty passive character. Costumes are lovely and the other actors strengthened it for me.

esiotrot2015 · 14/04/2015 22:03

Lol I thought I'd missed something then ! I thought Peggy from mad men was one of the ugly sisters but I was wrong about that too
