Just watched it on DVD.
God, what a film! Beautifully shot, heart-wrenchingly tender and probably the most violent, devastating film I've seen in a long time.
Anyone else seen it? I don't know anybody who's seen it in RL and I'm a bit reluctant to recommend it to people as I feel quite emotionally battered by it.

It's gorgeously shot and so disturbing. The book had a profound effect on me and I put off watching the film but was not disappointed at all.

I think I might read the book now. "Profound" is a very good word to describe the film I feel. It has really moved me in a way few films ever have.

It's just so believable.

Just checking I've got the right film - it's with Saoirse Ronan? Set at time of WW3, american girl sent to UK. Directed by Kevin McDonald.

Thanks, it's on Netflix so I'll give it a watch? It's obviously had a big effect on you, I'm intrigued...

The book is excellent.

Yes bagel, that's the one. Definitely watch it, it's well worth it. SR and the rest of the cast are fantastic.

Yes, I will and thanks for the tip Smile

I loved the book so much. I read it to vet it - to see if it was suitable for my ds. I was not expecting to be completely blown away by it.

I'm def going to watch the film.

Yes I read the book as a teenager and was so moved by it. I was initially reluctant to watch the film but I was blown away by it.
I found it realistic, compelling and heartbreaking and have thought about it on several occasions since watching it.

I read the book and loved it, I had heard it was good though. The film was wonderful too.
