Hello - My son's school has recommended that his year group 7 go and watch the film "Selma." Whilst it is a 12A I am a bit concerned about this based on what some review sites are saying about the age rating. If anyone has watched this film or taken a child to see it could you please advise me whether you think it is suitable.

I've seen it.

It was very emotive but very well done. I cried! But then I cry at every film... There is some violence - but not graphic bloody unwarranted violence. On the flipside it shows Martin Luther King making decisions about how to avoid violence. I can't remember if there was sex in it. Don't think there was.

Overall it's a great film and sympathetically done. I would go and see it too. You'll have plenty to talk about with dc. Throws up lots of questions on race, politics, passion, protest etc,
