He would watch Cars the movie on a loop if I let him. But nothing else! I tried him with finding nemo but he had no interest in it. Tried few classics- dumbo, Mary poppins and Charlie and choc factory- no interest.
Maybe his attention span is too short at this stage? Peppa and fireman Sam episodes are v short so maybe films are too long really at this stage? Any suggestions?
ThanksSmile

Thomas the tank and postman pat have films. Toy story might hold his attention. My ds was stuck on cars for about 2 years until he discovered mr bean!

JuniperTisane · 08/03/2015 22:20

Ds1 was Cars and Cars 2 mad too. Also Planes and Planes Fire and Rescue. The first film he really enjoyed without vehicles was Paddington but he was gone 4 years old by then.

I think pre-4 its jut an attention span thing.

omri · 08/03/2015 22:22

Toy story might work actually forgot about that one! His Thomas obsession seems to have waned slightly ... Thanks for response!

Bambi. I had avoided it for over 50 years, because it was sad, but when my daughter bought it for her daughter to watch "at Grandma's" I had no choice. It's fairly short and all my grandchildren loved it.

SolomanDaisy · 08/03/2015 22:32

My three and a half year-old has only just started to have the attention span for films. He's enjoyed Paddington, Despicable Me, Barbie Princess School, frozen and a Care Bears movie. He hasn't got passed a few minutes of cars or planes, despite liking the toys. He's never liked Thomas either though. There's an old film of fireman Sam live on YouTube which he has watched a few times. The Gruffalo films are nice and short too.

omri · 08/03/2015 22:43

Really good suggestions here- thanks! Bambi was my fave growing up so will try that. And he liked the gruff allo when he saw it at Christmas on TV. He also likes the Barbie cartoons so will record some of those specials they sometimes have on Nick. But mostly it's anything to do with engines and rescues that keeps his attention!

My son (very nearly 3, also Cars obsessed) seemed to love Pinocchio and Dumbo, and still does, when he was 2. I started collecting all the Disney Classics because I want him to watch the films I grew up with, ha, watched most with no problem. But he does love Mr Bean as well. He watched Toy Story 1 and 3 the other night without any fussing! (seen the second way too many times!)

What about Big Hero 6? My son liked that. Oh, Robots (the one with Ewan McGregor)...that holds my son's attention too. Brother Bear, Oliver and Company, Home on the Range, Land Before Time and I'm going to admit that my son watched Gremlins the other day... Shock

The feature length Fireman Sam 'The Great Fire of Pontypandy'?

FlorrickArgosLockheart · 09/03/2015 09:24

My DS is only getting into more complicated films now at 4.5. Cars, planes and planes 2 have been best. Winnie the pooh movies and Great fire of pontypandy. Also there is a long bob the builder, race to the finish I think. He is currently obsessed with cars 2, which he had watched when he was younger but now he understands it a bit more.

thoth · 09/03/2015 09:27

The studio ghibli films are nice- totoro, ponyo, kiki's delivery service.
3 is v young for watching a whole film, but my DS was glued to toy story all the way through when he saw it at 3.5. Of course Star Wars us good (the first one, episode '4' not others).

ChunkyPickle · 09/03/2015 09:34

Wreck it Ralph - DS was only 2 when he managed to sit and watch all of that - unheard of for him to stay still that long at the time!

LuckySaint · 09/03/2015 09:46

Mine loved Cars, also toy story, ice age and Madagascar

123Jump · 09/03/2015 09:47

DS3 is only 2.5, but has older brothers (10 & 8), and he watches what they watch. He is a seasoned Deadly 60 and Horrible Histories watcher,Grin.
But he loves "Anna Ailsa" (Frozen), and will easily watch it all through. He likes Finding Nemo, Toy Story 1&2 and The Jungle Book.
The one he doesn't like which I have tried loads to Cars!

FrozenAteMyDaughter · 09/03/2015 09:47

DD 's favourite films at that age were the Ice Age movies. Nothing else interested her as much until Despicable Me came along. But she was going on 4 by the time she saw those I think. They might be good ones to try though as lots of unusual machines in them.

ThinkIveBeenHacked · 09/03/2015 09:49

Yy to Ice Age.

Also, Up, Monsters Inc and Shrek.

MTWTFSS · 18/03/2015 14:00

Toy Story is my kids favourite at the moment :)
