Open Season or Barnyard?

Thinking of taking the children to the cinema this week. Film has to interest a 10 yo, 8 yo, 6 yo, and a 3 yo. It seems to come down to Open Season or Barnyard (Dg yawns and longs for the day that they can go alone!) So which one is better?

Barnyard has been pretty much universally panned! DD wants to see it but I just can't face it. Open season seems to be better reviewed.

We went to see Hoodwinked yesterday with dd which dh and I quite enjoyed but it was all rather over her head (she is 4).

Hehe - I very nearly posted the same thing this weekend but we decided on Open Season in the end, just because of where it was showing and ease of parking!!

Ds1 didn't want to see Hoodwinked as he thought it looked scary (he's 5.5!) - he didn't like the scary bloke in Open Season as it was! He is a sensitive soul. Ds2 is almost 4 and he had no problem with it.

Since I haven't seen both I can't really say but Open Season was good.

Barnyard sucked. Well, particularly if you're the sort of fussy person who objects to male cows having udders. (Ahem, like me.)

Great thanks! I saw that Barnyard had poor reviews but I thought I saw one Mner say it was good a few weeks ago. Well, she may yet be on to tell us how it good it was, but I think my mind has been made up in favour of Open Season.

Thanks everyone.

Barnyard was disappointing.

OMG - went to see Barnyard yesterday and it was DIRE..... kids said they enjoyed it, but I could see they were bored and fidgety all way through (and couldn't remember much of it afterwards).

Save your money!

i took my 4 yr old to see barnyard

and i thought i was hilarious

i think it depends what you are expecting, its no Toy story or Nemo but its funny all the same

i was hungover and pmt at the time and it cheered me up no end

dd gets bored easy but she sat still and really watched it

and she has talked a lot about it

NotQuiteCockney · 27/10/2006 11:09

A friend told me, yesterday, that Open Season also sucks. Boring, not enough characters ...

nailpolish · 27/10/2006 11:09

but yes the male cow udders annoyed me

Just come back from Open Season with DS (6) - didn't realise its a PG. Not quite sure why although they did say 'crapping' which I thought was a bit unnecessary.

It was quite funny, DS liked it anyway

We saw open season at the imax cinema and the DC's loved it! The squirrel was very amusing, DD2 is in love with the scottish accent and nanna took her too whispering
