Mine are,
The Deer Hunter - really shook me up and stayed in my head for a long time.
The Exorcist - watched it in secret with my big sister, it terrified me and I couldn't sleep for weeks.
The Sound of Music - the whole family watched it together every Christmas, so it just makes me feel good.
Good Morning Vietnam - fell in love with Robin Williams.
Thelma and Louise - girl power, and Brad Pitt, enough said.

The Breakfast Club
The Outsiders
Towering Inferno
Flowers in the Attic
Dirty Dancing

My Dad used to be really into disaster films and I caught the bug, so Towering Inferno was one of my faves. Very morbid... maybe I'm not normal...

It was my 40th last year and the pressies from my sisters included the following:

The Hand that Rocks the Cradle
Flowers in the Attic
Neighbours - Births Deaths and Marriages (TV obviously not film...)

I loved Farewell my Concubine, too Action. It lead to an obsession with Chinese cinema in my late teens. Taped them all off Chanel four- raise the red lantern was my favourite

Oh yy I loved that too. I watched several of those Zhang Yimou / Gong Li collaborations. She is so stunningly beautiful I'd watch anything with her in!

skyninja · 21/01/2015 16:14

The Breakfast Club
Dirty Dancing
Stand by Me

And thanks to a very laid-back step-mother, I saw Beverley Hills' Cop when I was a lot younger than 18 but I completely loved it, of course.

And thanks to a really terrible babysitter, I saw The Exorcist when I was about 13! That has really stayed with me unfuckingsurprisingly, I cannot stand horror films, I watch them from behind a cushion with my glasses off when it starts to get too scary or jumpy.

SarfEasticated · 21/01/2015 16:18

Xanadu - my first date with a boy ever
Purple Rain - Prince was so sexy!
Driller Killer - we all laughed at it
Good Morning Vietnam - fell in love with Robin Williams too
Airplane - we all knew all the words :)
happy days
Of course you could smoke at the picture in my day, and you got a choc ice in the intermission.

Dirty dancing or grease (or occasionally the animated Robin Hood if no one was around to look cool in front of) for sick days.

Dazed and confused, the crow, heathers, stand by me, clerks, dead poets society for with my mates.

I also used to watch a TV film called Bernard and the genie with Kenny Henry in it with my brother. No one has ever heard of that though.

Pretty in pink - I remember thinking wow Americans are so different. Even if they are poor they have cars and phones in their bedrooms.

American werewolf in London- the first ever video we rented when my dad relented and finally got a VHS player.

YY to the entity. Scared the crap out of me. I watched it the other day and it was just some B movie.

Withnail & I. Felt all grown up driving to a preview in Haymarket. Had ice in my cider way before Magners, because of that film.

Custardee · 21/01/2015 23:55

IPityThePontipines · 22/01/2015 00:03

Action & Bolshy - I think I must be the same age as you, as I can remember staying up late to watch anything with Gong Li in it on Channel 4, both Farewell My Concubine and Raise the Red Lantern are such amazing films.

I used to love "accidentally" watching a late night film and it turning out to be really good.

Ruby In Paradise, was another film I loved.

Stabby - those were my thoughts exactly about Pretty In Pink! Also, I felt so sad her friend changed her style to get some yuppie bloke.

Noggie · 22/01/2015 10:40

Dirty Dancing- was a real eye opener and I still love it!

meoryou · 22/01/2015 10:58
