Wasn't expecting this to be great ...but it really was!
A really simple moral tale...and lovely unconventional family relationships, great animation, lots of laughs for the adults, and some good music along the way.
I took my 2 to see it today (3 and 9)...and they both really enjoyed it. There were kids really cracking up in the audience...(lots of dirty little laughs and uncontrolled giggling)
Lovely

Really? Might take 4yo DD then, thanks for recommendation.

DastardlyDevilishDior · 15/10/2006 20:36

Brilliant - might take ds in half-term.

OMG, you're kidding, right?

I saw this in the summer (in Canada) and hated it. Very heavy handed, not very funny at all.

And the main character is a male cow. With udders. WTF?!?!

NotQuiteCockney · 15/10/2006 21:40

Hmmm, that was more abrasive than I meant ... I'd been meaning to post a thread saying "don't go" when it had opened ...

It wasn't offensive per se, other than the "male cows" problem. The animation was ok.

Troutpout · 15/10/2006 21:40

Lol! no! we liked it...we really liked it!
Yeah male cow was wierd .
Saw Hoodwinked last week and hated that...and i just read a thread praising that...hmmm..so maybe it's me actually.

Ah, see, Hoodwinked sounded good to me, I'm tempted to go. It is all a question of personal taste, isn't it ...

Glad you're not offended - maybe we should look out for each other's recommendations and not follow them?

GraceUnderFire · 21/10/2006 18:28

A thread! I needed a thread on this!

Why did the boy cows, with boy names and boy voices, have udders? Why? It really bothered me.

NotQuiteCockney · 21/10/2006 18:35

I know! And somewhere near the end, a bull appears in shot. I'd just got used to the idea that ok, this was a world where male cattle are a) called cows and b) have udders ... and then there's a bull. WTF?!?!

GraceUnderFire · 21/10/2006 18:38

Three sexes! Cows (with girl voices, girl names and bows on their heads), mancows (with boy voices, boy names, no bows and udders) and bulls. The bulls must be Uber Cows.

NotQuiteCockney · 21/10/2006 20:17

So are the boycows neuter, then? All v strange.

Gillian76 · 21/10/2006 20:24

DH wants to take the kids to see this. Might let him go on his own. I would get annoyed about the udders, etc. He, on the other hand, wouldn't notice that

NotQuiteCockney · 21/10/2006 20:27

Apart from the udders, it was ... ok. A bit obvious, a bit heavy-handed.
