i have been looking forward to this for ages, and just spoke to my cinema buddy (a screenwriter: he knows his stuff) who said it is just drivel.

but this warning is to say the violence - typically for brian d.p. - is pretty apalling and grotesque.

certainly, i'm not going to watch it because i just cant stomach really explicit violence (especially close ups of peoples faces while they are being tortured, of whihc i beleive there are some)

anyway - just wanted to share the warning. do with it what you will...

thanks!

I wanted to watch this too. Sounds like it has been fairly mis-represented by the trailers if your post is anything to go by.

Having said that I loved The Untouchables, Scarface and LA Confidential, so I'm likely to enjoy this one, gore and all.

it's a true story isn't it? i've never seen scarface, it's on my list of films to never see

it is a true story. and i agree, scarface etc are all on my list of best ever films. this just sounds entirely gratuitous, and also badly scripted, acted etc - so absolutely no payoff.
