Love Actually, for the wooden dick van dyke school of acting (barring Liam Neeson and Bill Nighy), and for the unforgiveable use of the word "spaz" in it.

Do not watch "Gerry" - unless you are strugglng to get to sleep or want to bore the pants off yourself. I am quite into arty films and was up for this one (starring Matt Damon and Casey Affleck) as it has won awards for the photography and has an intersting trailer. Truth is, no one speaks for nearly 7 whole minutes and when they do it is total (and I really truly mean, TOTAL) dribble. I would rather do the ironing/breast feed/walk naked round town/speak to my gran on the phone for three hours than watch another 7 minutes of that one. "Nil points" from Stripy.

Accidental Tourist - only film I have ever geunuinly fell asleep in the movies watching
The Piano - may have won awards but.....
Agree about the matrix - couldn't even watch it as a freebie on a plane
Really liked Moulin Rouge though

Marina · 29/03/2004 10:56

Sibble, I thought The Piano was terrible too. But I did like American Beauty...and The Usual Suspects (don't say any bad words to me bk)
Even before the unforgiveable use of the word "spaz" in Love Actually I've always really despised anything with Richard Curtis' leaden hand on it. I thought Four Weddings and Notting Hill were really self-indulgent and unfunny. The man is a national disgrace. I think I'd rather watch Sex Lives of the Potato Man...or maybe not.

CountessDracula · 29/03/2004 11:01

OMG PLEASE don't anyone not watch The Piano - it is one of the finest and most moving films ever made and had me sobbing for ages. Don't watch it without a big box of tissues.

Young Adam is about the most boring film I have ever seen, kept wishing that Tilda Swinton would drown so I could leave and go to the pub. Utter crap.

spacemonkey · 29/03/2004 11:06

I'm with you on The Piano CD - superb, beautiful film

lazyeye · 29/03/2004 11:07

Momento - think I was missing something.

Also that last David Lynch thing - Mullholland Drive. Eh hello.....maybe you need some recreational drugs to enjoy with yer film.

CountessDracula · 29/03/2004 11:12

I didn't get mulholland drive either. Couldn't be arsed to watch it again, (had heard that you got it if you watched it twice)

WideWebWitch · 29/03/2004 11:16

couldn't stand mulholland drive either

spacemonkey · 29/03/2004 11:17

ooh I liked Memento, it's really clever!

Mirage · 29/03/2004 21:36

The Royal Tenenbaums-what was that all about? Very disappointed as the critics raved about it.

Looks like I am right re advoiding John Cusack's & George Clooneys's latest offerings though-& I thought I could forgive them anything...................

spacemonkey · 29/03/2004 21:37

it's a hung jury on Identity - I loved it and would definitely recommend it

fell asleep during Royal Tenenbaums I must admit!

AussieSim · 29/03/2004 22:00

2 Fast 2 Furious - looks like it was made by 2 teenagers with a budget (and yet have seen The Fast and The Furious quite a few times - english language viewing over here quite limited).

I second Johnny English - was also terrible.

Chinchilla · 29/03/2004 22:14

LOVED Identity

bran · 30/03/2004 11:06

K-Pax made me throw-up - although it could have been turbulence, I was on a plane at the time.

Frenchgirl · 30/03/2004 11:24

Fell asleep during The Hours, got v v bored with Eyes Wide Shut, v disappointed with Chicago....
But Memento was great!!! And Moulin Rouge too.

Blu · 31/03/2004 10:50

That film with Polly in the title. (Along came p? And then there was P?) Am embarrassed to say I have even seen it.
