Love Actually, for the wooden dick van dyke school of acting (barring Liam Neeson and Bill Nighy), and for the unforgiveable use of the word "spaz" in it.

Oh I agree with AI. It was annoying as it would have been passable if it had finished at the first natural end point rather than the 17th. Same goes for the most recent David Lynch film - thingumy avenue.

I did like Donnie Darko though - wasn't quite as good as I was expecting (rave reviews from friends) but good all the same.

SenoraPostrophe · 27/03/2004 15:41

I also have never been able to watch the end of the Matrix - I've mentioned this before and suspect I am alone in the world on that one!

Tinker · 27/03/2004 17:00

SP - I've never even watched the beginning of the matrix - so you're not totally alone.

But I loved Lost in Translation. I thought Bill Murray's acting was wonderful, so low-key. One of the few films that stayed with me for days afterwards.

Tinker · 27/03/2004 17:01

Matrix - I am replying to SP after all

bunny2 · 27/03/2004 17:15

Love Actually - sickeningly shite

In the Cut - tries too hard to be arty, long, boring sex scenes

spacemonkey · 27/03/2004 18:19

Serendipity - now THAT'S a bad john cusack film if ever there was one

MrsGrump · 27/03/2004 18:28

Down to Earth. We hardly ever don't finish a film, but this was a worthy case. The Big Lebowski wound me up something rotten, too.
But I loved The Usual Suspects....and the way the fish move in Finding Nemo, they spent 5 years perfecting the animation to make how the fish move look right, couldn't help but find that amazing!

marthamoo · 27/03/2004 19:05

I thought The Matrix was pants. Now there's a well balanced and reasoned review for you

jac34 · 27/03/2004 19:08

Saw "Lost in Translation", last night, it was absolute s**t. Also agree with Tallulah about "Eyes wide shut", we kept waiting for something to happen as well.
Another rubbish one was a film called,"Phonebooth", we watched it because someone at work with DH was raveing about it. About half way through, I suddenly realised I wasn't watching and had started flicking through the Argos catalogue, just shows how interesting it was.

Slinky · 27/03/2004 19:20

Totally agree about "Phone Booth"!!

Lots of DHs work colleagues were absolutely raving about this film - both DH and I were very disappointed.

SenoraPostrophe · 27/03/2004 19:54

I saw a trailer for phone booth - I see it's as awful as it looks (it looks like a sub-Die Hard 3 load of nonsense).

Marthamoo and Tinker that's fantastic! I am no longer alone. And thanks for correcting your punctuation for me Tinker

Grommit · 27/03/2004 20:01

I hated the Matrix - thought I was unique in this as everyone seems to rave about it - pleeased to find out I am not alone

bossykate · 27/03/2004 20:04

saw love actually last night - a great big pile of steaming....

only redeeming feature was bill nighy.

Grommit · 27/03/2004 20:08

Bossykate - I saw Love Actually a few weeks after having my baby - just right for baby brain! Did love Bill Night though...thought Hugh Grant awful!!!

lou33 · 27/03/2004 20:10

Unfortunately using the word spaz in it takes any redemming features away imo.

emmatmg · 27/03/2004 20:10

Matrix? Don't get it either.

Has anyone seen 'being John malcovich' (or how ever you spell it)...................Now that is a pile of pig shit.

emmatmg · 27/03/2004 20:12

I think thats what it's called anyway...the actor blokey in it is the name in the title whoever it is.

melsy · 27/03/2004 20:12

The Saint with Val kilmer OHMYGAWD what painful drivel.

I Like the Matrix , bit of a Keanu fan , even though he is a sh*te actor , hes good eye candy!!!

Grommit · 27/03/2004 20:13

Hi Melsy

bossykate · 27/03/2004 20:15

lou, i know you are rightly upset about that word - have to say it passed me by, as film was too dull to hold my attention completely. who said it?

melsy · 27/03/2004 20:18

Grommit · 27/03/2004 20:22
