To think that the makers of The Lego Movie got it all wrong?

As I sit here surrounded by a ton of bits of Lego, hunting for that elusive microscopic piece that DS2 has to have to complete his Lego scene, I can't help thinking that there is something inherently wrong about the storyline.

In the story the Dad has a huge Lego collection, and cruelly insists that it all stays intact, denying his son the pure joy of building and breaking and rebuilding random Lego creations. In reality I don't care if they break all their carefully constructed spaces ships, fire engines, police cars etc into prices, if it makes them happy. But the problem is that then they're upset when it's in pieces, and I have to hunt high and low for the relevant teeny tiny pieces and try to reassemble it all.

And as for glue being the enemy - on the contrary - after trashing their police station and fire station the kids have asked me to glue it together! Superglue is my friend!
