Don't know the studio involved, but Despicable Me is brilliant. And The Croods was surprisingky good, that's still showing at the cinema.

Disney films.

Another vote for Despicable Me. Fab movie for any age.

My 3 and 6 year old love Matilda at the moment (although the trunchball is a bit scary, but they love her!), nanny mcphee, ET, and Annie - although that is very long and they did lose interest!

Universal made Despicable Me, as my DS had a picture taken of him hugging a "minion" in the park LY.

How about some of the Dreamworks films - Shrek for example?

Disney's Aristocats seems to go down across a variety of ages.

DS (2.5), DP and I sat quite happily through Wreck It Ralph (not Pixar, but is computer generated..)

Agree that Despicable Me is good too.

The lorax, Megamind, Rio, Ice Age, Madagascar(not the 3rd) all popular in our house

I hate Disney & Pixar. & especially Dreamworks. I know I'm in the minority but I find the animation ugly and I hate Disney's racism & sexism. I also hate the way they play on negative emotions in a very dramatic way. I haven't seen loads of them but I don't like for example Ratatouille, Aristocats (The music is good- I know), Kung Fu Panda- sorry! ;-)
[Disclaimer: I know that I'm 'over reading' and 'overanalysing. That's just the way I am ;-)]
If anyone can suggest a Disney thing that's a bit different, sure why not?! (But I'll be highly sceptical) ;-)

My two both enjoyed Water horse and Nims Island, might not suit youngest child though. We're not keen on the newer disney/pixar films either (except Lion King!)

I don't know Star Wars or Star Trek. Is it too scary for a 6 y.o? With Parental Guidance?

I know you are after films, but had to suggest Thunderbirds (original series not new movie) full of space gadgets. Mine are 11 and 15 now and will happily still watch it. I watched endless hours of it with ds1 when was preganant with ds2.

Star Wars ... a new hope-brilliant, suitable, moral and Harrison Ford eyecandy in the form of Han Solo (and how have you never seen it????)

Also Brave is amazing, but then I love Disney & Pixar so maybe I shouldn't be recommending that to you

Yeah my big brother didn't let me watch these as a kid. I was a girl y'know? Can't say I've had a chance since but am really excited to watch them with my son, who is class :-D

what about some others of the Studio Gibli movies - I think Spirited Away and Howl's moving castle will be for older children, but some of the others might be better - Ponyo maybe? I haven't seen most of the newer ones.

Not sure who made Astroboy, but they may enjoy that too. My boys love a lot of the Anime and Manga stuff so they would watch Naruto and Pokemon stuff a lot. It also might be worth going back catalogue and doing Baby's day Out, maybe the first Harry Potter the Spykids movies maybe - I'll have a look through the DVD collection later but just thinking of things that our neighbours 4 and 7 year olds like to borrow.

Isn't A New Hope the first of the Original Trilogy? That would make it the first movie made so probably okay to start there.

There is also Little Rascals, but not sure who made that either.

Nim's island looks good (but Im allergic to romances at the moment lol)

I absolutely adore The Lion, Witch & Wardrobe but I fear this hasn't been successfully put to film yet (its oftem too scary on the screen anyway) so will make do with the book :-) Planning to buy a lovely kids version.

Oh hi sorry you were right- number 4 is the first one and apparently I should watch them in chronological order as they were made so 4, 5, 6, 1, 2, 3. Can't wait! Yay!
