Baby cinema

I've heard of baby cinema from various conversations online. How does it work? DP and I would like to see the Hobbit but its such a long film and I'm breast feeding so I'd either have to leave my 8 week old with my parents and carry bowling ball boobs or take him with me and feed once or twice in there if he needs it.

I assume if you go you have to accept that babies may be crying in there. Do you get headphones or anything? Such a strange concept to me as a first time mum!

I haven't been yet but definitely plan to, the odeon do baby screenings where the volume is turned down and the lights turned up and everyone brings there babies, presume there is an acceptance that there will be some noise from the babies. I wanted to go and see skyfall and dark knight and breaking dawn and jack reacher (miss watching films) but my odeon doesn't do it so I would have had to get a train and was being a bit of a wimp about baby on a train! If you google baby screenings it should take you to the odeon website for more info. Let me know what you think if you go and I might brave the train if its any good

I used to take dd when she was 2-4 months. IMO i didn't like it. I found it was too loud, and crmaped - you still sit in the standard cinema seats - i tupidly thought everyone would be sprawled out on the floor or in bigger seats and thought you would have headphones.

it was just like taking a baby to normal cinema. also, the 2 times i took dd, she was the only one to cry and be restless, everyone leses baby was well behaved and i had to keep saying excuse me to everyone as i kept getting out of my middle row seat to jiggle dd about in the aisle. found it hard to concentrate on the movie and dd was frightend by the loud noises.

for me it was a stressful experience. i perfered renting the movie when it was out on dvd and watching it was dd was alseep.

I used to go and was brilliant when babies are really little. You just get to sit in the (quite) dark and relax and watch a film and the baby just feeds and sleeps... Depends how calm your little one is though.

It's not dead quiet but fine - highly recommend.
