I know it's a fairly old movie but I've heard a couple of people lately say they like it. One watches it all the time Hmm I'm tempted to rent it? Anyone seen it and what did you think?

GobblersKnob · 16/07/2012 15:37

The singing is great, but the film itself is the most terrible drivel imaginable (sorry Bubbless).

Figgygal · 16/07/2012 15:39

Music and dancing is brill rest of it is a bit contrived Xtina has an amazing voice

CuriousMama · 16/07/2012 15:48

Think I'll rent it then thanks.

Omg.

It is terrible.

But strangely compelling.

If you've ever watched a Christina aguilera video and thought "if only this was two hours long and had the plot of coyote ugly" then this is the film for you.

High points: Christina wandering into a burlesque club and going "what's burlesque?" seconds before Cher comes onstage to sing a number helpfully titled "welcome to burlesque"

Cher allegedly showing Christina how to apply make up even though she is already caked in it and looks like someone has coloured her face in beige.

Alan Cummings.

Low points: not enough Cher. You can never have too much Cher.

Enjoy!

Terrible film, weak plot etc

But I love it Blush I even bought the soundtrack double Blush Grin

BillyBollyBandy · 16/07/2012 20:17

Brilliantly bad! Loved it

I did get quite distracted by Cher morphing into Pete Burns though

pinkyredrose · 16/07/2012 20:52

It's rubbish. It doesn't even have proper burlesque in it, just showgirl tunes with singers in stockings.

It's like Disney meets burlesque. Paper thin plot and awful acting.

CuriousMama · 16/07/2012 23:35

Brilliantly bad then I'll love it Grin

It's only 99p to rent so I think I can stretch to that? Wink Just didn't want to drag myself to blockbuster if it wasn't worth it?

CuriousMama · 17/07/2012 17:47

OP posts:
BumsyClugger · 18/07/2012 13:13

Oh I am partial to a bit of Mr Butler (yes please!) but Cam in Burlesque... There's one part in particular I could watch over and over and over (whilst drooling) but then I am 23....

In fact, I just googled him and now I have to watch Burlesque again Grin

CuriousMama · 18/07/2012 16:10

Haha yes at 23 I may have fancied him I like them older now, easier to catch Wink
