Is magnificent.

Incredible performance from Phillip Seymour Hoffman....

Dh has been trying to get me to read In Cold Blood for about seven years now....and I'm finally going to.

Highly recommended.

take him to the film....he will get the book out as soon a you get home....it is really beautifully done....he gets the arch, knowing, cynical beau monde humour of his new york crowd so spot on....and you laugh and hate them at the same time....

does it not give too much of the plot of the book away? I think dh will NEVER read the bloody book if he watches the film!

(the book is brilliant btw, natch)

Heathcliffscathy · 26/02/2006 17:41

no, it absolutely makes you want to read it, despite knowing what happens in the end....the film is mostly about how awful it was that capote was willing to do almost anything for the sake of his story and how his involvement actually impacted massively what happened to the two guys...which i'm sure doesn't come across in his book at all....if you liked in cold blood you MUST see this film Enid....

I was interested to know Harper Lee is still alive, but hasn't commentd on the movie. I loved IN Cold Blood as well, but am not sure about seeing the movie now. Movies are always worse than the books, don't you think? Saw Memoirs of a Geisha and was so disappointed because I read the book first, and the movie didn't do it justice.

poppadum it's not a movie version of in cold blood, it's a film about the writing of in cold blood....i promise you won't be disappointed...

I agree it was magnificent

What a vile, loathsome and amoral man Capote was

His epigraph, which I will not attempt to reproduce clumsily, summed up his just desserts.

I very much enjoyed the feeling as an audience member of being horrified by his character's character. Jolly good
