Shite. Waste of money. Story that didn't hang together at all. Unless I'm missing something.

OP posts:

You are so right !!!..total bollocks ...it was a mis-mash and lacked substance... didn't answer any questions but created many... didn't hang together well ..cinematography excellent the only saving grace...

I felt I was watching the first episode of a series not a film and I actually felt my intelligence was being insulted at certain points...

Why was it must see in 3D? only the storm utilized this aspect...

The ripley character was unlikable and had a very strange accent..I felt no connection to her...I could go on...so glad I did not pay full price for this nonsense!

akaemmafrost · 06/06/2012 08:21

The man in front of me said "what a load of shit" when it finished. I agreed.

Loved Idris Elba though.

akaemmafrost · 06/06/2012 08:22

The tearing round after the c section pissed me right off as well, as if!

Trills · 06/06/2012 08:33

I thought it was OK. Only OK though.

Maybe you were expecting too much?

TitsalinaBumSquash · 06/06/2012 08:35

I was expecting it to be amazing, the hype it got was insane but I was decidedly "meh" about it when it finished. DP was the same. The cinematography was good, but for me, they left too many questions and not enough answers, I know it's a trilogy and the questions should be answered in time, but it wasn't good enough imo to be excited about the next instalment.

ableseawoman · 07/06/2012 08:37

Lovely to look at, but a ham-fisted script, a plot you could drive a coach and horses through, and overbearing, bombastic music.

What irritated was the lack of internal consistency; the multi-talented scientists analysing DNA in less than 5 seconds; sending loads of people into an alien environment when there's an android you could send in.

And as for the post-operative recovery of the heroine.

Fassbender was good.

Ryoko · 07/06/2012 14:44

Should read reviews before you go, everyones been saying it's meh (well the reliable sources anyway that are not paid off).

I'll watch it on DVD at some point, not really that interested in a cash in penned by one of the scriptwriters of Lost.

PersonalClown · 07/06/2012 14:52

Now I'm glad that I didn't pay out for opening night in 3D like DP wanted. I love the Alien films but was wary when Ridley Scott said it wasn't a prequel then it was. Hmm

I'm saving my funding and expectations for Dark Knight Rises.

Ryoko · 07/06/2012 15:14

Bet you a fiver thats shit.

Go see The Raid, hollywood only deals in over hyped CGI trash now days.

Pan · 09/06/2012 22:56

I loved it! Brilliantly paced, high tense, suspenseful and tastefully violent where it had to be. And Noomi Rapace and C. Theron were cleverly conflicted.

You lot know zip.Smile

zippey · 09/06/2012 23:49

I saw it today... and it is the best scifi film I have seen in a long time. Absolutely brilliant. I thought the whole story was fantastic. It left a lot of questions and some of the things were a bit unbelievable, but hey its a film.

Id give it 8.5 out of 10, the best Alien movie since Aliens, and its proper scifi.

Hownoobrooncoo · 13/06/2012 00:11

I really liked it and am a long time fan of the Alien series. Would pay to see it again.

summerintherosegarden · 14/06/2012 13:50

Dreadful script, plot, acting (except Fassbender). Pretty good fun nonetheless.

zippey...some of the things were a bit unbelievable... like the fact that their spaceship travelled faster than the speed of light? the fact that half a billion miles away is not a "distant star system" but in fact the edge of our own star system?

I loved the original Aliens and expected better from Ridley Scott. He could have paid an undergrad physicist to patch up some of the holes in the science.

Hownoobrooncoo · 14/06/2012 16:56

It started out great, I loved the first half but it just never delivered as good a second half or ending which many movies don't. I think some of the problem was that it was an Alien prequel and had to go down that avenue to satisfy the fans, seemed to get sidetracked from the original great theme of the engineers/creators. I think it would have worked just as good if not better as a stand alone scifi movie just dealing with the opening themes.

summerintherosegarden · 14/06/2012 18:45

Agree Hownoo. He could have got rid of so many characters as well and focused more on the interesting storyline at the heart of the film.

noddyholder · 18/06/2012 21:10

I really enjoyed it and have been dreading but promised ds would go with him and dp family day out! Fassbender was excellent by far the best thing in it. I had to take my film snob head off and as a result really liked it

noddyholder · 18/06/2012 21:11

Opening scene and music was stunning

MiliPonce · 21/06/2012 09:52

I loved it!

EveryPicture · 23/06/2012 17:44

It was ok until the running round post-op bits. I just lost the plot then. I know it's sci-fi and all but... really Confused
