LOTR...just me?

Ok, I have about three times to watch the first one. I get fed up with it about 30-40 minutes into the film. Is it really worth me persisting a bit longer or are there others out there who just don't get the whole LOTR thing?
Got it on DVR just now and I don't know whether to stick with it or just DELETE and give it up forever.

If you can't get into it after 3 attempts I would get rid. Try reading it instead if you want to get the story. Sounds like its not really your favourite genre though.

Pascha · 01/06/2012 19:39

And no, its not just you, the films bored me to tears but I loved the books and have read them many times.

cocolepew · 01/06/2012 19:40

Is Aragorn in it by that time? If not carry on watching Wink

cocolepew · 01/06/2012 19:41

yum I actually thought I would hate the films, not to my taste at all, but I love them

ClaireFromWork · 01/06/2012 19:43

It's crap. It is merely hours of your life that you will waste trying to work out why on earth women go weak at the knees over Elijah Wood. It is clever cinematography and SFX but That Is It.

Why-don't-you-switch-off-the-TV-set-and-go-outside-and-do-something-less-boring-instead? E.g. watching the grass grow.

MaloryMad · 02/06/2012 12:07

I gave up on it. Again.
cocolepew I don't think Aragorn was in it. They were just going on across a river after being chased by a man in black on a horse when I switched off.

I love the films but the hobbit bits are the most boring you need to hang on for Aragorn he is beautiful.

likelucklove · 02/06/2012 12:42

I love them and the books (but the books are much better IMO).

I would say persist, especially with the Hobbit coming out at Christmas. Legolas (sp?), Aragorn, Boromir and thinking of Elijah Wood and Dominic Monaghan sans Hobbit features make it worth while Wink

I can't fucking stand them, 20 mins in and I'm done which is odd because I play loads of RPGs like Final Fantasy and Tales, used to collect warhammer and love films like Legend, Dark Crystal and series like Xena etc.

It's just I can't stand LOTR all that bollocks talk of hobbits drives me mad and I get fed up and be done with it, until next time I try to endure, honestly if the mainstreamers didn't fucking go on about it so much I wouldn't bother trying but I just keep having a go because I feel that I should like it because I normally like all that pointy hatted bullshit but it just doesn't grip me (same applies to Harry Potter).

cocolepew · 02/06/2012 17:12

Oh no you need to watch it until Aragron is in it hes lovely!

LadyClariceCannockMonty · 14/06/2012 16:45

No, it's not just you; they're a bit rubbish. Just fast-forward to the bits with Aragorn/Viggo Mortensen looking wolfish.
