I remebered this being a smash when it came out - why?? I expected (even hoped for) something trashy, but there were no real laughs, no real characters and no real plot. Managed to persuade DH to watch it with me too - bet I wont get him to watch a trashy film for ages again now. Pah!

DH hired this film out the day I got home after having a C section, although it is not funny, because it was so painful to laugh it appeared very funny at the time, I had to get him to switch it off after 40 minutes as I was in total agony from laughing, I was crying at the same time

It was pure shite. I decided to cut my losses and at least manicure my hands during it.

It was a smash b/c there're a lot of silly people out there.

Me and Dh were wondering about this earlier actually - how non greeks or those not involved with them would view the film. Personally I love it, but then it is my life - seriously, I watch that film and find so many parallels to things that have happened with Dh's family it's unreal (I'm English, he's Greek Cypriot btw) It is true though, there is no real story and I probably would be bored to tears if it wasn't about 'us'

I quite enjoyed this tonight Dh was watching a documentary but I made him watch the film instead. Nice and untaxing.

I Love that film - my dh and I got married in Croatia and it was 95% identical - crazy family, great atmosphere, loads of food etc.
Many people I know thought it was total shite but my mil that was with us at the wedding also loved it. I suppose, you have to relate to love it.
