TRUE GRIT - remind me, how violent is this movie?

I remember violence as being short, sharp and pertinent - not gratituous and horribly shocking, if you know what I mean. Am I insane to think about ignoring the 15 certificate and showing it to a 12 year old?

I would..unless he's incredibly sheltered he'll have seen worse, but then I think its fine to knock a few years off age ratings. Its also an excellent film
