Was thinking of a cinema trip this week with ds 13 & dd 9.
So which one have you seen, and can recommend.
Thanks

We've seen Hop. The story is very predictable but there's some funny bits. It wasn't too bad.

TotorosOcarina · 09/04/2011 21:06

So glad this is not a name thread like I first thought!

pinkhebe · 09/04/2011 21:08

We've also seen rango, yes it is a bit trippy Grin but my 8 yr old and 2 11 yr old boys and hubby loved it Grin

not sure if the other 2 might be a bit young for the 13 yr old?

Merrylegs · 09/04/2011 21:19

Took Dd (10) to see Hop. We enjoyed it. Is a mix of live action and animation so not too babyish. Is voiced by Russell Brand and Hugh Laurie so nice to have some accents from this side of the pond. Plus v Eastery.

Seen Hop and Rio with my 9-y-o. Loved both but think Hop would probably be more enjoyable for the 13-y-o.

Saw rio today, not that impressed really. It was ok, not as good as ice age

Panzee · 09/04/2011 22:25

TotorosOcarina me too! :o

RatherBeOnThePiste · 09/04/2011 22:32

Ooooo I was taking DS 11 to see rango tomorrow. Not sure now! Am thinking hop.

O what to do?!

cornishpasty · 10/04/2011 09:22

Love that some thought it was a name thread. Can you imagine! Brilliant Grin
Still not quite sure - I know if I ask them they'll pick different ones.
Keep your opinions coming.........

We've decided on Hop!

pourmeanotherglass · 10/04/2011 22:50

planning to go to the cinema Friday with 2 girls, age 6 and 8, so I'll keep watching this to see what everyone else thinks - I'm thinking probably Hop

RatherBeOnThePiste · 10/04/2011 22:58

Saw Hop today. It is a gentle predictable story with a cute bunny and Easter theme. Perfect for your ages. DS aged 11 liked it. I thought it started slowly and warmed up nicely. It has reference to America's got Talent, which if they know BGotT they will get that bit. But Hop is straightforward. They will probably enjoy. You can probably have a little snooze!

scattygirl · 11/04/2011 21:39

Sorry to hijack your thread. I am thinking of taking my DS's (5 and 3) to the cinema tomorrow to use up a freebie cinema ticket DS1 brought home from school.

So as they are a bit younger would you recommend Rio, Hop or Turtles Tale?

saffronwblue · 07/05/2011 12:31

I did not enjoy Hop. I hate the way "an intervention" is now an acceptable plot device in kids movies. It is interesting in that there is no love interest and basically celebrates male immaturity and mocks Mexican aspirations.
Kids enjoyed it while I squirmed and sighed.

saffronwblue · 07/05/2011 12:33

Trippy is the perfect word for Rango. Sort of slow and weird and mesmerising, very different from the Disney/Pixar look and feel.

HarrietJones · 10/05/2011 12:34

Rio better than I expected but not as good as ice Age. We want to see Rango but Hop doesn't appeal

bustersmummy · 10/05/2011 12:36

Took my DD's to see Rango.

They are 12 and 9.

It was a total utter pile of crap.
