Goin tomorrow night!

DH tells me that Jonathan Ross loved it (I'm assuming he saw him on something, he doesn't just know him...).

Loved the series, loving the trailers - especially the bit where he asks if the other want to run the ship, and then looks all confused when he says yes

spookyserenity · 05/10/2005 11:24

I have to wait until saturday as I'm at work in the evenings until then

I've seen the trailer ( a few million times )and it looks deffo brill, to paraphrase RTKM.

Can't wait, can't wait, can't wait.............have to get DH to book MIL's babysitting services!

buffytheharpsichordcarrier · 05/10/2005 11:33

hurray! I am not alone.... there certainly seems to be some significant interest - all over the Sunday papers etc, which is odd really for a sci-fi/western/genre film with no stars in it. it said in the Guardian that Universal were supportive because they thought it would clean up in dvd sales, which I'm sure is right.

I want it to do really well, not just because JW and the rest deserve it, but to rub it in the faces of the idiot executives that cancelled Firefly

flamebat · 05/10/2005 11:38

YES!!! at all the stupid firefly execs

flamebat · 05/10/2005 11:38

And the angel ones too while we're at it!

motherinferior · 05/10/2005 11:50

motherinferior · 05/10/2005 11:57

spookyserenity · 05/10/2005 12:01

From the Vue website

Joss Whedon- the Oscar®- and Emmy-nominated writer/director responsible for the worldwide television phenomena of "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" and "Angel"-now applies his trademark compassion and wit to a small band of galactic outcasts 500 years in the future in his feature film directorial debut, "Serenity".

The film centres around Captain Malcolm Reynolds, a hardened veteran (on the losing side) of a galactic civil war, who now ekes out a living pulling off small crimes and transport-for-hire aboard his ship, Serenity. He leads a small, eclectic crew who are the closest thing he has left to family - squabbling, insubordinate and undyingly loyal.

When Mal takes on two new passengers-a young doctor and his unstable, telepathic sister-he gets much more than he bargained for. The pair are fugitives from the coalition dominating the universe, who will stop at nothing to reclaim the girl. The crew that was once used to skimming the outskirts of the galaxy unnoticed find themselves caught between the unstoppable military force of the Universal Alliance and the horrific, cannibalistic fury of the Reavers, savages who roam the very edge of space. Hunted by vastly different enemies, they begin to discover that the greatest danger to them may be on board Serenity herself.

Nathan Fillion (Cap't Mal) is a hottie too - anyone else tempted to go yet???

bran · 05/10/2005 18:39

I must organise dh and myself to see this, if we manage it it'll be our first night out together without ds. We loved Firefly, I hope the film does really well and the series gets reinstated.

tribpot · 05/10/2005 19:05

Yes, me too bran if we can manage to arrange babysitting!

Guardian article on JW

I was most pissed off when the opening date for the movie was changed from April to October. April = no probs in going as babe still safe inside. October = babysitters and separation anxiety! Harrumph! Worth the wait, though.

TheRtHonBaronessEnidOBE · 05/10/2005 19:09

oooooooh may organise my biannual trip to the cinema in the next couple of weeks

Flamebat - you went on Thursaday? What did you think?

spookyserenity · 09/10/2005 00:09

OK, just got back and I'm

Joss Whedon did something that made me sit up and shout 'No!'.........in the cinema.........in front of all those people.

Bad Joss.

DH PMSL (or should that be PHSL?)

I am so

Damn fine film though. DH has now just put the DVD on, so I'm not sure quite when we're going to make it to bed.

flamebat · 09/10/2005 00:20

spookyserenity · 09/10/2005 01:40

Go custy, go!

spookyserenity · 09/10/2005 01:42

I shall revel in it as it won't happen again

Tortington · 09/10/2005 02:49

pmsl!

i did that once, it was a film called star troopers i think, totally unexpectedly a guy got his head blown off and i shouted "holy shit" top of my voice.

Yup - Serenity was called Firefly as a series. It had 14 episodes (about 45 mins each) before the bastards cancelled it.

You don't have to have seen it, but it does make the film a lot better - those I've spoken to who had seen firefly loved Serenity, but those who didn't just thought it was "ok".
