I have been looking forward to this film for yonks!!

went last night - enjoyed it, but didn't love it (obviously I will require a second viewing for the love to form)

Certainly didn't find it 'darker' than the last one (though it think Part 2 will be!)

Oh my god I loved it. By far my fave of the films. Especially off the anticlimax of 6.

The Harry/Hermione moment made me a bit Shock really, I was wanting to scream at the screen 'noooooooooooooo'

I am also very impressed with how Emma Watson has come on as an actress in general - in the first few films, being quite young and inexperienced she left a bit to be desired but when she was at the Malfoy Manor with Bellatrix - Wow. Took my breath away when she was speaking to her. I wanted to climb inside that screen and save her myself Grin

Also loving Rupert. Very good.

Yes, there are bits that are different but I think this was actually one that was closest to the book! It was very good at making me forget about the inconsistencies, I was so caught up in the moment. Can't wait to see it again.

Bumperlicious · 21/11/2010 00:53

Cineworld let you take a 'babe in arms' during a day time showing so am going to try & go with dd2 next week. Hopefully it won't be too busy during the day.

CheerfulYank · 21/11/2010 02:43

Loved it. We had a midnight show and the crowd was soooooooo excited! (I work at the cinema so it was free for me :)) I'm actually going to sign off and go watch the end again now. :)

I wanted the "I love her like a sister" line too, that was the main thing I didn't like.

BelligerentGhoul · 21/11/2010 11:15

He sounds lovely, Noah. :)

Stardown - I really liked film 6 - my favourite of the series so far.

Ingles2 · 21/11/2010 17:00

Have just seen it... and totally loved it! I agree with everything Stardown says in her post, including the disappointment that was HBP.....
There were a couple of people sobbing through Dobby's demise, me included...Ds1 told me to stop crying Blush
I can't wait to see it again Grin

PGWomble · 21/11/2010 17:07

Loved it! As did DH. Neither of us have read the books (first DC not due until Feb). We saw it in a cinema which has a bar, so mostly adults in the audience. A couple of moments when the majority of viewers jumped out of their skin..! Best HP yet- roll on July...

PureBloodMuggle · 21/11/2010 18:52

Wasn't mad on Lucius Malfoy but I did fancy Fenrir Greyback.

Though i recognise this marks me out as inneed of a lot of theraby!!!

What did you all think of Rhys Ifans, (Xenophilius Lovegood)accent? Was it supposed to be Irish Hmm

BelligerentGhoul · 21/11/2010 19:24

Rhys I too young, I thought.

Now, was the Captain Jack-esque character supposed to be just a snatcher, or a werewolf or part wolf or something? Cos he was bloomin' gorgeous! I know that the other one is deffo a whole werewolf - but was confused by who Mr Gorgeous was! :)

BelligerentGhoul · 21/11/2010 19:32

here

He is a snatcher and the actor is Nick Moran, I find. He looks completely different (and very ordinary) without the long hair, boots etc.

Ewe · 21/11/2010 19:37

Saw today and loved it, possibly my favourite HP film to date!

PureBloodMuggle · 21/11/2010 20:39

BelligerentGhoul

That's who I was swooning over. Thought it was Fenrir Greyback

megapixels · 21/11/2010 20:48

I loved it. Very fast pace and I jumped out of my seat at the Nagini scene too.

I was disappointed at not seeing the 'I love her like a sister' line as well.

Haven't they changed Fleur Delacour, or is it the same actress who took part in the Tri Wizard thing?

Hassled · 21/11/2010 20:52

I saw it today - I haven't read the book so can't compare/contrast, but I loved the film. Exciting, much better acting (especially from Ron), an awful lot of sitting around woods but they were very pretty woods.

I took DS3 (8) and it was pushing it, tbh - I kept offering to take him out but he was determined (as he cowered in my lap). I probably shouldn't have taken him - if he has bad dreams tonight I'll feel very guilty.

BelligerentGhoul · 21/11/2010 21:02

I think Fenrir is the more rugged looking one.

As for the other one, it's a contest between him and Snape for who I fancy most now!

I also thought that Fleur looked different and the bit where Bill introduced himself to Harry was clumsy - if they'd ended the last film properly that wouldn't have been needed.

PureBloodMuggle · 21/11/2010 21:18

Oh BelligerentGhoul we have the same tast in men - Snape does it for me too!!!

BelligerentGhoul · 21/11/2010 21:57

:)

I think I must like 'em a bit mucky looking! Grin

I am decided now. I will take DD to see it. She's been cacking on since Thursday when it was released but we had a visitor.
Fingers crossed for lots of lovely Snape action.

ShadeofViolet · 22/11/2010 09:30

DH and I went to see it last night and I loved it. I was really disappointed by HBP and this has more than made up for it.

They didnt explain how they managed to get the Burrow back together after it was completely destroyed in HBP though.

I think they will include more about Dumbledores family in the next film, they wont have added a little hint and then completely ignore it all.

Deliaskis · 22/11/2010 10:55

We went to see this on Saturday and really enjoyed it. HBP felt like a bit of a 'filler' really but this, although obviously unresolved, felt like we were moving on with the story again.

I thought it was filmed differently to the others, to capture the mood I guess. Seemed like quite muted colours, no bright scenes at all, made it easy to understand the sort of frustration and almost depression they would have been going through, apart from and worried about their families and no idea how to complete the impossible task ahead. It was just like there was a huge cloud over the whole thing, which I think was good.

Thought the acting was vastly improved as well, especially Emma and Rupert. Emma especially seems to have really matured. I think they have both been guilty of over-acting in the past (and Emma of 'eyebrow-acting') but that was all gone for this one.

All in all, good film, and I'm looking forward to the conclusion.

AmazingBouncingFerret · 22/11/2010 12:25

Kreecher, your snape comment made me laugh. There was, alas, only a few scenes with Snape in them.
But I couldnt concentrate properly.
His hair was fluffy
Cue me and 14 year old niece sniggering into our milkshakes

potplant · 22/11/2010 13:31

I saw it at the weekend and loved it - glad they kept really close to the book.

Ive never liked Emma Watson, she's all dramatic pauses and raised eyebrows so I was very surprised at just how good she is in this. I love the bit at the beginning with her parents. Rupert Grint is clearly the best of the 3 of them though - and I loved Dave Coaches being Ron!

The horcrux killing moment was a bit of an anti climax - they should have had the 'I love her like a sister' bit and I'm not sure what to make of the Harry/Hermione dancing bit. All the reviews said it was a sweet moment where he is trying to cheer her up but it looked like he was trying to make a move on her. Mind you Film Ginny is so weak that Harry probably forgot that Ron has a sister never mind that he's madly in love with her.

Kreecher - Snape's only in it for about 5 minutes but is fantastic. You're in it a lot though Grin

ChristmasTrulyReigns · 22/11/2010 14:32

Please don't shout at me folks.

I saw it yesterday.

It's the first HP I have seen. Shock

We everso impressed - why have I avoided it in the past? Blush

PfftTheMagicDragon · 22/11/2010 14:35

Not enough Snape.

Mind you, lots of things in life could be improved with more Snape.

I thought that Emma Watson and Rupert Grint were both good, the bit at the start with Hermione obliviating her parents was quite emotional for such a short scene. I still don't believe Radcliffe as Potter though. I'm not sure if that is down to him as an actor, or the cheesy nature of most of Harry's dialogue.

Overall I liked it. I liked the strained nature of most of the Death Eaters - the Malfoys in particular.
