among the recent crop that I've seen, Broken Flowers is well worth it. Thinking of seeing Willy Wonka cos of rave reviews.

Apparently Willy Wonka is very dissapointing. I havn't seen it but quite a few people who I know who have seen it have said it is not as good as the original. Everyone likes different things though don't they so you never really know.

Thanks for telling me! Anything worth seeing, then? Fancy a night out.

Charlie and the choc factory is much more true to the story than the original, but it has flashbacks which spoil the story.
Much much better than the original IF you appreciate Roald Dahl!

Vaunda · 09/09/2005 23:54

Nikkie, does it have all the singing?

MumOnaMission · 10/09/2005 00:20

i thought the new willy wonka was very disappointing, not a patch on the original and no, it doesn't have all the singing. dd loved it though.

cinderelly · 10/09/2005 23:27

I thought it was just wierd. Whats was going on with the oompa loompa?? DD was bored stiff aswell.

I went to see The Business last week. Loved it! Thought it was really funny, but dont think its meant to be a comedy (?) But apparantley I have crap taste so dont take my word for it.

flamesparrow · 10/09/2005 23:29

I enjoyed Charlie, but tried not to compare it to the first... I went in with the idea that I was seeing a remake of the book, and not the first film, and I think I probably got more out of it because of it.

Reading the book before I went helped too.

hated flashbacks though!

only singing when the kids diappear.
my d2 obsessed with it has been twice and is asking the rest of the family to take her now!
Apparently Roald Dahl had some input in this film( had rejscted the first!)

We really enjoyed Charlie and the Chocolate factory. I had just finished reading the book to ds and dd (6 and 4)

Wallace · 11/09/2005 20:19

can't remember the original film at all though, so maybe that helped.

Vaunda · 11/09/2005 22:45

I am plagued by the original film it is one of ds's fav films

sansouci · 11/09/2005 22:47
