Great use of infographics to drive home a point. All pale stale males supporting the brotherhood…disgusting.

David Brown has close cropped, dark hair. He is wearing glasses, a dark suit and tie and a white shirt. He is on a mobile phone outside a court.

Rapist taxi driver at centre of Highland licensing row to appeal conviction

David Brown was sentenced to six years and nine months in jail in May for the attack in December 2023.

I'm in NE Scotland and this was bad six idiot men thinking a rapist should keep his licence.
He was still taxing whilst suspended

GTTSR · 13/07/2026 21:54

I can’t actually believe it! What on earth were they thinking?

Appeal I hope his sentence gets bumped up

It was a family member who brought it forward to be renewed. I wish the council had explained themselves. At first I thought the rapist would be driving the cars from some of the original headlines but he's in jail. It's the operator's licence that's been renewed for the other drivers to continue working. I don't know how operator licences work. Obviously it would be better for the family member to apply for one in their name but I don't know if that could have been done in the time and if this was an interim fix?

GTTSR · 14/07/2026 11:51

That is useful context but it was still entirely the wrong (easy/lazy) decision made. Ignoring police advice and indeed the voice of the 4 women on the committee just reeks of male entitlement. I’m sure other arrangements could have been made for the other users of the licence, license transferred to another etc.

How dreadful.

That poor young woman.

I never get in taxis, I just don't trust them.

I read that his licence was extended so that his wife could continue to use it "to keep the family whilst he was in jail", and that applying for your own licence could take a couple of years.

I don't however, believe anything I read in the news anymore, everything is a lie or has a hidden narrative.
