Ive paid for tickets to see these arseholes [multiple groups of them] and not one single band t shirt comes in anything other than a male shape. Which is not comfortable or flattering. Twats.

It's a good question. I really struggled to find an Oasis t-shirt, official or otherwise, designed for women last summer. I bought a small mens one that is annoyingly baggy around the middle, but fitted at the hips, and I don't like the neckline (women's shirts seemed to have slightly wider necklines). Needless to say I haven't worn it much since.
If I recall, it was actually easier to buy a women's t-shirt when I went to see them in the 90s!

FeelingALittleWoozyHere · 12/05/2026 21:56

I was v happy when I went to GnR, they had female fit range. Hate it when they only have 'unisex' (i.e. mens). I dont want a baggy t shirt i want a nice fitted one

Galaxylights · 12/05/2026 21:56

I think if you go onto etsy or something like, you can have tshirts printed as you want and maybe cheaper too.

PermanentTemporary · 12/05/2026 22:24

But I wanted to buy official band merch! I like supporting the actual bands. The ones I like are big enough to kind of make a living from music but they’re not filling stadiums.

I’ve messaged a couple of them, let’s see what happens.

Yep I agree. It's because the default person for most things is still male

InterestingDuck · 12/05/2026 22:36

Yes, this annoys me. I have a single band t-shirt in a small, female cut that's a vintage one from the 1970s.

Pistachiocake · 12/05/2026 22:44

T shirts mean loose fitted to me. Quite a few of the gym tshirts look identical whether the men or women, eg Gymshark-my husband's looks exactly like mine. Sure, men and women sometimes like tops really snug/body con or whatever, but lots of women like the normal shape, so the answer is that it probably makes smaller businesses more money. If they offered lots of different shapes, it could cost more and give more stock issues.

PermanentTemporary · 12/05/2026 23:15

I suppose it is more noticeable if they only offer one T-shirt of the whole range in a women’s cut, and if they don’t do that they can pretend that male = unisex.

"Mens" tshirts are comfier. Do you really need a band tee to feel "fitted"

PermanentTemporary · 12/05/2026 23:23

No they’re not, not to me. Too tight at the neck, boobs straining, too tight at the hip, slightly wrong at the armpit. They don’t have to be fitted as in tight, but I’d like a T-shirt that recognises my body shape.

A fitted band t shirt is the opposite of what I’d want to wear ( so perhaps they stopped making them because they didn’t shift enough units )

astrozenica · 12/05/2026 23:24

I'm wondering, what was the male:female ratio of the gig? If they don't have many female fans then maybe it just doesn't make financial sense for them to order in women's T-shirts.

AnOldCynic · 12/05/2026 23:36

@PermanentTemporary I hear you. I look at the merch stall every time and never buy…

Lookonline · 12/05/2026 23:41

All my band t-shirts are male shaped - but seeing as that shape is a simple rectangle with a couple of small rectangles poking out sideways at the top for arms I suppose they are easy and cheap to manufacture compared to the more "curvy" shape for women. Also they waste very little fabric compared to a curved outline.
Maybe partly the reason dates from years back, because I'd think now, with computer controlled cutting without human involvement and probably stitching, a more shaped outline would be just as easy?

Wearealldoingourbest · 13/05/2026 00:19

Yes totally agree! This really annoys me too. I still have band T-shirts from as recently as 10 years ago and then they just... stopped? Mens T-shirts don't fit me unless they're big enough to be a sack and then they reach halfway down my thighs and make me look twice as big as I am. Why is it so hard to have a basic shaped black or white women's T-shirt printed. Most printing places sell them for the same or similar price as the men's T-shirts.

See my comment above about the available Oasis tshirts. Thousands of women attended those gigs.

I've been moaning about this for years!!! It pisses me right off.

So have I. I only buy second hand band t-shirts now, to get women's fit.

WhyamIinahandcartandwherearewegoing · 13/05/2026 06:04

It’s a cost thing, nothing that deep. If they stock lots of variations the likelihood is they’ll be left with more at the end of a tour. That eats into the profit, and merch is one of the only ways the smaller bands make money in a tour. Having one option allows for less wastage.

They aren't more comfy unless you get something really oversized (which I like for around the house, but not to wear out and about).

As OP says, if they're in my size then they're cut all wrong - tight neck, pulling across the boobs, baggy at the middle, and snug at the hips.

It's really annoying.

I'm constantly writing to bands about this. "No market" or "we don't want to be left with unsold merch"

So I always make a point of saying "shame, no money from me then"

Particularly annoying lately at a band where around 70% of the (large, sold-out) crowd are young women.

Enraging at Billy Joel about 8 years ago. Women's t-shirts available: yaay
Different image than the men's and no tour dates: fuck off, fuckers.

But still i write to them...

Edited for typos

One of the bands that has done better has a ‘print on demand’ merch option so they can offer m/f shapes with the same cost. Not that the links work at the moment. But they’re trying.

Women's have a wider neckline so I don't furled strangled.

And yes - women like bands. We deserve merch.

CervixSampler · 13/05/2026 06:13

My favourite band do some ladies fit T-shirts but otherwise I just get them altered. My advice is to wash them first before altering as I’ve had stuff shrink in the wash once altered.

Who? I'd probably buy one just to show there's a market!
