Looking for women in Yorkshire/nearby to collaborate on feminist safety projects

Hi,

I'm looking for other motivated women to collaborate with on some project ideas (all not-for-profit) as part of a collective.

I have been working on a few side projects outside my paid job (I'm a researcher).

  • a project about preventing sexual abuse in healthcare settings. I set this up as an organisation and I have given presentations publicly on this already.
  • a project about strangulation - in domestic and sexual abuse contexts. That was prompted by the Eurovision song 'Choke Me' and then recently news articles on non-fatal strangulation in the death of women. I have a very well-researched petition but it only has a few signatures due to my own lack of time and social media presence to promote it.
  • a project about dating app safety. I have the very basics of a tool that might help people to report abusers to dating platforms.
  • I want to campaign to have 'good character' references prohibited from criminal cases where there is sexual or domestic abuse. This has happened in New Zealand and I'd like to see it happen here.

I'm a researcher so I can do the gathering evidence-side of it. But I realise it would be much better to work with other women and collaborate - people who have skills in social media, journalism, websites, design or anything else and might be interested in working on one or more of these issues above.

I relocated to Leeds from London and I still don't know other likeminded people in the area. I've ideas and motivation but know things would move faster if I were not trying to do it alone while juggling everything else.

I'd absolutely love to find other women and to put our heads together and see if we can make change on some of these issues.

I'd love to hear your ideas and recommendations.
Thanks

Are you involved at all in the Women's Rights Network? I think you'd find a lot of women interested and willing to help you with these projects there.

None of these sound area specific- and the law change has to be national. If you're open to working with women across the UK, and take the location out of your heading, you'll get more interest.
