The Drama film (spoilers)

Here to discuss the main plot point of The Drama, so look away now if you don't want to know.

The twist is that they are confessing the worst thing they have ever done and Zendaya's character says she planned, but didn't carry out, a school shooting. My issue is that 97-98% of mass shootings are carried out by men. This is an overwhelmingly male crime. But between this and the boomtown rats song I don't like Mondays, popular culture is presenting it as more female than it really is. Women simply virtually never carry out mass shooting.

Yes I would be fine if the plot was a mass murder by other methods such as poison, because women do murder. It's specifically the method that is bothering me.

I don't like Mondays is about an actual real life female shooter. It's also nearly 50 years old

Yes it is. And there have been virtually no female shooters since, so it seems an odd choice to pick as the movie plot.

97-98% of school shootings that are actually enacted are by males. I don't think the data exists but if males and females are equally likely to fantasise about mass violence against a community when overwhelmed by extreme anger, but vastly more females than males never do anything about it then it's a more plausible plotline?
