Single man has 5 children via surrogates - one turns out to be an Olympic champion

Alysa Liu won gold medal in figure skating at the Olympics earlier this week.

She is one of five children born to a single dad, who moved from China to the USA. He decided to have a family in his 40s and used two surrogates. Alysa is the eldest of his children. Three are triplets. He seems to have used a white egg donor and people are speculating that he selected for athleticism.

I do feel we shouldn't visit the sins of the parents on the children, to paraphrase the Bible.

I might judge the man and the people who allowed a single man to have five surrogate children, but I think we should leave the children out of it: this week, we should just be celebrating Alysa's talent and kindness to other competitors.

Well unless it was an immaculate conception questions should also be answered of the woman who did it

A triplet pregnancy is no joke for the surrogate.

I don’t think it’s fair on Alysa to be speculating on this. She has been very vocal about the pressures and stress in the sport and the negative impact this has had on her. Now to add to people speculating about her parentage which is something she cannot control.

Let her enjoy her amazing achievement.

It's a weird assumption that because one of his kids are talented that he picked the surrogate for an instead skating talent or he screened the eggs foe sporting prowess. He has 5 kids, no suggestion any of the others are sporty despite sharing both parents.
