Capitalism and pornography

I’ve been looking for some reading about the way in which capitalism has commodified sex through promoting pornography.

I did think Jo Bartosh’s ‘Pornocracy’ might be exactly what I had in mind- but on looking at a kindle sample I am not that impressed by it. It seemed a bit repetitive and focused on the extreme nature of most modern pornography - which to me almost seems to be normalising porn that does not have those extreme characteristics. (Maybe I’m misjudging it?)

Can anyone recommend anything? I’d be particularly interested in anything that looks at the relationship between those profiting from pornography & the political systems that are supposed to regulate it.

I'm sorry I can't answer your question OP.

However as I hadn't heard of the book Pornocracy I just watched an interview on YouTube with the authors. I found it a really interesting interview. Although quite depressing.

It feels as though every system we’ve tried leads to women being physically commoditised. Traditional marriage, at its core, is an exchange of sex for shelter. I agree that the marketising of sex has been bad for women, but we were hardly in a good place to begin with.

But, would appreciate any book tips you may have. I think Andrea Dworkin had some insightful things to say.
