Women’s Institute (WI) will no longer accept trans women

I personally am glad about this because biological women deserve protected spaces, but I dislike how the CEO seems to regret this decision. What kind of CEO doesn’t stand with the new supreme ruling?

Funny how the UK Equality Act 2010 is used by so many women to sue on the basis that "men's clubs" do not have the right to discriminate based upon gender, even though these are "private clubs" and allowed to determine their membership entry process in the Act. Therefore quite the double-standard that females are celebrating the WI membership policy change due to the UK Supreme Court ruling, but still men can't be choosing the same option and have to fight to keep their organization female-free. Almost like a the old adage of a wife/girlfriend stating "your money is my money, and my money is my money." The entitlement never stops.

The ‘We’re soooooo so sorry’ messages are completely unnecessary. If they want to continue to accept transwomen then they can. They would need to change their mission statements and stop claiming that they are just for women/girls. If they accept that their mission is to support women/girls exclusively and that mission is worthwhile and something they want to continue to deliver on, then they cannot include any males.

If they feel they are able to continue on their mission to support women/girls without excluding males then they can change it and open it up to all males Just like Scouts did when they decided they want to be unisex because they no longer had enough members to be boys only.

Guides/WI have clearly done an assessment and determined that an exclusive service just for women/girls is what they need to keep doing, so why the hand wringing when they actually deliver on that?

The Garrick club and similar private men’s clubs are legally allowed to exclude women but have recently voted to admit women, largely because of social and political pressures
