Julie Burchill in overdose?

Just read her piece on substack, which I don’t know how to link to. I think she’s tried to end it all due to her disability of being permanently in a wheelchair. I do hope she finds a way to find joy again. Remarkable woman.

As a big fan of Dorothy Parker, I've always enjoyed Julie Burchill's witty and funny imitations. 'Feeling fresh as a daisy after swallowing xxx pills...' a line straight out of DP, who was also a habitual suicider. Sadly it didn't end well for Dottie who ended her days in a chaotic mess as a ranting, anti-semitism alcoholic before dying alone of a heart attack. I imagine Burchill will probably want to go much the same way, following a woman who inspired her so much.

When she does go the world of media will be less colourful and she's has made herself such a character. Hope she's not going just yet though.

I wish Julie all the best. Often infuriating but always enlivening!
