I don't know enough about the case but it was excessive. Secondly he was on bail and meant to keep away. Third it says the relationship was 'mutually abusive', was it or was it reactive abuse? I wonder if she had a dv professional as an expert witness. She could have been completely deranged due to the abuse or just deranged.

In answer to the thread topic. No, NI is not safe for women.

12 years is a lot but this does sound like premeditated murder. Hard to argue self defence when you stab somebody in their sleep.
