Huge increase in Violence against Women and Girls

I watched the segment on GMB 2 days ago where they were discussing this topic. It was surprising, to say the least, that the Home Office (under both governments) has underspent it's budget by 15%.

This is despite the number of complaints by women for rape or sexual assault rising from 34,000 in 2023 to 123,000 in 2024.

So has the reduction in deterrent policing been a factor, or the normalisation of violence in sexual encounters (as promoted by porn) or is there another causative factor?

This all begs the question as to what has caused the cultural shift that fuels the apparent increase men's desire to hurt women?
Where has this increase in misogynistic attitudes come from?
And most important, how can it be addressed?.

All the factors you cite, plus the catastrophic decline in rape prosecutions.

Whenever this is brought up on MN, posters immediately rush forward to talk about their lovely husbands and sons and brothers though, spectacularly missing the point.

According to Rob Rinder, barrister, who was on the panel, some rape victims are waiting over 2 years for their case to come to court. About 70% eventually drop the case.
This is just not good enough.
IMO these issues should be prioritised over "hurty words" in SM.

He (Rob) said that there should be heavy deterrent policing from the get-go, as we certainly have enough laws to cover this eg: starting with "upskirting".

According to the ons sexual number of sexual offences reported to the police went down 2% from 2022-2023, and up by 5% 2023-2024. So I'm not sure where you got your numbers.

Rob Rinder quoted the figures on the programme. As he is a barrister I assume he knows what he is talking about.

Here is a link to the programme including a transcript;-

OK, so what are you trying to say?

That GMB was giving out misinformation?

If that is correct, then are you going to tell them of your findings?

What I'm saying is there hasn't been an increase, therefore it doesn't need to be addressed. It's not my job to fix GMB.

Your assertion seems to contradict this information -

Some of it is undoubtedly the over sexualisation of society, the increase in entitlement of men to sex and the normalisation of misogyny and abuse over the internet.

i dunno though, the incredible capacity of men for brutality and sadism has been demonstrated time and time again through history. Maybe some of it is that we have had peace and men normally and genuinely like to fight wars against each other, and devoid of that they turn on us. I wish I’d never had kids.

Overpopulation, stretched resources and inequality are also proven sources of general social tension which is easily redirected onto the identifiable subgroups of victims: and having said that I also wonder about the mass import of young men from societies that really do think women are worthless breeding cows. Or just that import from other societies that see us as other, and have been led to believe in the British empire causing all evils, whether the middle class like to admit those two or not.

If looked at from 2002 to 2024 there has been a huge increase

It’s so utterly depressing. Maybe more people feel ok coming forward and replying to police - which is a good thing - however the conviction rates are awful. Sometimes it feels as though sexual assault and rape are all but decriminalised. I wonder if there would be a positive difference in conviction if juries were changed - not members of the public but specialists.

Whilst the woke won't ever dare to even entertain this discussion the evidence does look a bit concerning. Like the 1200 sexual assaults in one night on NYE 2016 (perpetrated by men of 'North African appearance') and the fact that two thirds of sexual assaults in our capital are now committed by foreign nationals - this was recently discussed on GB News following the stats being released in response to a FOI request.
