Gisele Pelicot - how can we thank her

I'd like to express my personal gratitude to Gisele Pelicot but I don't know how to.

Can anyone suggest a way to do this?

I'm going to write a postcard to Gisele's lawyer saying Thank You Gisele from Princessfluffy.

He can pass this on or not as he thinks best.

I'm not expecting anyone in RL or SM will know I have done this. Mumsnetters after all would not even recognise Princessfluffy in the street.

Hopefully Gisele will feel the support gratitude and solidarity it is sent with.

Everyone else, do what you feel is right for you or do nothing. Your choice. No judgement from me.

For those saying I am self absorbed and making it all about me, judge me as you like if that makes you feel better.

I won't be reading anything further on the thread so knock yourselves out and enjoy.

Well she'll be Woman Of The Year, I sincerely hope. I don't know what sort of honours are available in France but if she were British I'd hope to see her made a dame, so perhaps they could do something similar.

I'd love to see a campaign for as many little newborn girls as possible all given the middle name of Gisèle in 2025, as a mark of recognition and gratitude. That would be a very fitting tribute indeed. And all those girls could be educated to understand why they were named Gisèle and what she stood for.

Légion d'honneur is the main one. It has various levels and categories, most of which require the recipient to have been in certain occupations or to have decades of achievements, but I believe there's a presidential discretion option that allows a few awards each year to people who don't meet the standard criteria.

The stumbling block is possibly that the Légion d'honneur is for people who have enhanced the prestige and standing of France. Which she has in some ways, but in many others she's rather undermined it by highlighting the serious shortcomings of French law when it comes to sex offences.

To those saying she doesn’t appreciate gestures of thanks and solidarity- she wore on many days of the trial a scarf sent to her by Australian women as an expression of support. Clearly she has been buoyed by the fact that her horrific case has touched a nerve with so many women worldwide, and I don’t think the OP should be maligned for wanting to continue that.

It's funny but I remember an almost exact replica of this thread when Nazanin Zaghari-Ratcliffe was freed with a poster announcing that they planned to send her welcome home cards.

When it was pointed out that she might not want that and may prefer to be left alone for a bit the OP also flounced as the thread obviously didn't play out in the way they expected. Totally different to what's happened here though 🙄.
