Watching A Place in the Sun this morning. It is obviously very formulaic but I enjoy watching it. Odd episode, the woman in the couple seemed unusually emotional, crying in the opening section when the couple are asked why they want to move abroad, said that she visited Tenerife 8 times a year and felt like 'herself' again when she landed on the island (she had spent a lot of time in the holiday in her youth and with family). They view some properties a couple of which are stunning, budget of £200,000, £235 max.
When it comes to the end her partner says that she has 'the choice' of the property and he will do the negotiations. It's on for £225, he puts in a ridiculous offer of £160 which the presenter is floored by but puts it forward. Vendor says no, will accept £195 at the lowest. He says £175 and that's it, whilst his partner looks completely distraught. Their budget was £200,000 presenter points out, he says no. Very odd, a bit like she had a choice on the property but actually had no choice. Kind of felt as if the production staff should have staged an intervention!
