Watched the Laci Peterson Netflix doc.
She was murdered while pregnant by her husband. Who spent days ‘searching’ for her with her family when she went missing.

At the end of the programme it was stated that murder by the partner is the leading cause of death of a pregnant women in the States.

“Women in the US are more likely to be murdered during pregnancy or soon after childbirth than to die from the three leading obstetric causes of maternal death (high blood pressure disorders, hemorrhage, or sepsis), say experts in The BMJ today.”

Unbelievable isn’t it? WTF is wrong with men?? It’s horrifying and totally depressing.

It’s horrible and sad. Pregnant women are among the most vulnerable in society. Most at risk of abuse and death from their partner.

I am not sure about statistics in the UK.

Women are only safe if their male partner allows it 😞

That is terrifying.

It's probably not quite as dire as the US because there are fewer murders per capita in the UK. But still plenty dire enough.

Poor Laci. I imagine Scott's conviction will be overturned at some point. I think he absolutely is 100% guilty but i think he'll get released.

Chris watts murdered his pregnant wife and 2 daughters because he wanted his mistress to birth his first son. Chilling how we are just hosts for them, isn't it?

As far as I am aware it's the same in the uk- more likely to be killed by DP than die in childbirth

Yes I know about Chris watts too. Horrific. I actually feel sorry for the ‘other women’ too. Not sure about Watts but Peterson’s girlfriend had no idea he was married. She seemed so traumatised.

Something severely wrong with some men in our society. What some women go through is unthinkable.

I do think we will see Scott peterson released, he hasn't ever confessed and maintains his innocence. His case also gains traction from innocence projects.
Amber Frey who was the mistress of Scott actually called the police after laci went missing and helped them with their investigation.
Because this case is based on circumstantial evidence, I think Scott may be able to one day get out.
He had the motive, opportunity and the fact his story with going in out in his boat all stinks, it's still not solid confirmation he did kill laci.
I'd bet my last five quid he did it, but in the days of dna and watertight evidence, there is room for fuckers like Scott who was a renowned slimy chancer to escape justice.
Amber the OW here I feel has no guilt in connection to laci and her son (Connor) murder and if anything was beneficial to securing the conviction.

Chris Watts's OW is named Nicole and she has made some very "telling" Google searches and her and Chris spoke prior (it's documented on their call logs) to the murder of his family and almost immediately after it.
I think she may have been complicit.
I'm not sure her involvement but I think she accepted that he wasn't going to divorce Shanan his wife and instead she'd be "taken care of". This is speculation and my opinion but she had even googled "Amber frey book deal". Now if a woman, her unborn son and two precious daughters have all died at the hands of the man I'm having an affair with, I'd not be wondering how much money I could make. Its cold and callous to even think that.
You'd surely be heartbroken for a plethora of reasons, not working out how you can financially benefit.

I've read bits and watched things on both cases and I really can't imagine with how Nicole has behaved, she wasn't in some way, even small, involved.

Dp and I years ago now watched a Chris Watts documentary and dp was too angry to watch it. Just kept saying he hopes he gets shanked in prison. Seeing the little girls smiling at him in pictures really upset and angered him. We stick to watching light hearted things now because he just goes off on tangents and can't cope with dad's hurting their kids.
Chris Watts has now found Jesus since being in prison but hopefully Jesus delivers a flying kick to his face should they ever meet.

This came up on my recommended playlist today, I'm not sure if this will be any good but it'll probably have a lot of information. Plus, Nancy Grace is a guilty pleasure, she's so angry I love it 😂
