The grotesque misogyny of Trump and Vance

XChrome · 31/08/2024 05:55

Trump shared a "joke" about Harris giving blowjobs. Refuses to apologize. So-called Christian Vance defended him and compared Harris to a beauty queen who had made a rambling speech during a beauty contest. When he was informed that the beauty queen in question had become suicidal about her humiliating moment going viral, he also refused to apologize for bringing it all up again.

These two don't have a shred of human empathy for women, whom they consider objects of utility. They don't really have empathy for other men either.
It sounds counter-intuitive, but I actually hope they continue this psychopathic woman-bashing behavior, because it means they are going to lose more women voters. Some men will have had it with their disgusting antics as well.
The fanatical Trumpers aren't ever going to care what these two blowhards do, as they are cultists, amoral and irrational to the bone. However, the undecideds are seeing exactly who these two men are. They aren't even trying to hide it. They're so enraged about a woman being ahead in the polls that they're completely losing it.
So keep it up, boys!
Here's your rope.âž° Hope it's enough.

Any opinions?

If the latter statement is true, doesn't that prove the opposite of what you're claiming? Namely doesn't it prove that they're not driven by misogyny but by a general contempt of other people?

Yes, if youre still on X youll have seen this stuff. The orange one is just a terrible person but we knew that. There is some sign that some groups are getting bored with the relentless stupid nastiness and sexism, but it's nothing very different to the stuff he was saying and doing a few years ago. I assume I'm not seeing the things that people like about him. He's still going to get millions of votes, we just have to hope bot quite enough.

It's not either/or. They can be both misanthropic and misogynistic. Lots of men look down on others in general, but women in particular.

He never went this far with Clinton. There wasn't anything overtly sexual. I think the fact that Harris is a WOC factors into that.
It's driving him crazy that she might beat him.

Echobelly · 01/09/2024 22:04

I mean, one reason, among many, that I want Harris to win is that being beaten by a woman of colour would destroy Trump on a profound level. It's pretty much stamped into the essence of his being that women and people of colour are beneath him.

I think the sexism is backfiring - it's like they don't realise that about half the population are women? As though from watching films and telly they think that 90% of people are men or something. This will turn off many wavering voters for going for them, although there will still be too many women supporting their own rights being overturned.

XChrome · 01/09/2024 22:11

I agree with you echobelly. Women need to get out and vote in huge numbers.
How any woman could support Trump is mind-boggling. I suspect it's because their racism is even stronger than their sense of self preservation, which is pathetic.

I imagine that very few Americans are undecided about who they would vote for (that is, few are wavering between Trump and Harris, in the way that a UK voter might waver between Labour and the Lib Dems, and decide based on something about pension policy, or Ed Davey's sympathetic back story). The election will come down to who gets off their backside to go and vote. US elections tend to have low turnouts because so many people think "They're all the same". Hopefully a decent number of the women who would otherwise not vote will be sufficiently motivated to turn out against Trump.

The fact remains, however, that tens of millions of women will vote for Trump, because they have been captured by the cult. 43% of women who voted in 2020 voted for Trump. https://cawp.rutgers.edu/gender-gap-voting-choices-presidential-elections

The Meidas Touch.

It's unbelievable what mainstream media ignore about Trump. He was laughing about giving prostitutes having golden showers fgs.

TooBigForMyBoots · 01/09/2024 22:29

It's a fucking travesty that Trump is even standing. The Republican Party has lost its mind.

The Republican party lost the plot long before Trump, when the Tea Party was in vogue. It's been downhill ever since. The only way they could sink lower is to run an illiterate, toothless rodeo clown with convictions for molesting horses.

sadmillenial · 03/09/2024 02:33

i think the thing that is making them lose the plot is the new tactic by the Dems to not challenge them in an intellectual/robust way but instead laugh and call them "weird"
This is what's causing the ramping up in misogyny - they cant stand strong women laughing at them

cry me a river.....

Yeah, the way Harris just said; "Same old playbook." must have pissed the old bastard off.
They want the Dems to act outraged instead of just dismissing them as the loons and goons they are. They want Harris to rise to the bait and she's not having it. I'm looking forward to seeing Grope (my nickname for Trump) try to debate a former prosecutor.

It is an odd phenomenon, but if you had put this thread on the other board, you would have received entirely different responses. Some 'feminists' are Trump supporters - such as Kellie-Jay Keen.

From what I understand, that is an anti-trans fascist. Lots of right wing trash are using the trans issue to claim they care about women. They do not. Anyone who supports an accused rapist and self-admitted gropeist like Trump doesn't give a rat's ass about women's safety.

I think it's partly a problem of thinking online = real life. Even mainstream journalists do this when they report on debates on Twitter etc rather than putting effort into finding stories or just speaking to people on the street. The "left" in the UK and especially in America fell into that trap too - their views. On trans rights etc are somewhat out of step with majority opinion offline (even amongst left leaning types). But if you spend all your time in some online spaces you would think they were the centre opinion.

Trump and especially Vance seemed to have sourced all their opinions from angry, right wing men on the Internet. Vances views are 100% mainstream and even fairly moderate for the online world. But not offline as it turns out .

Personally I welcome the day when we decide a different method for making a national decisions than "let's find the most batshit crazy person on twitter and ask them". But the people that Do subscribe to those views, and think the majority of people do because that's who they talk to are going to feel betrayed/ignored when that happens.

biscuitandcake · 04/09/2024 18:45

Also Harris isn't perfect but is a better candidate than Clinton, and actually avoiding defining herself as "the first women president in waiting" too much. She actually doesn't need to talk about her identity that much because Trump will do it for her "is she black or Indian" in a way that makes him look foolish. So... Fingers crossed.
But I think because the Democrats aren't falling into the same traps Clinton did (calling people deplorable etc) the Trump team keep trying to lay those traps for them and then falling in themselves.

True. Clinton handled her campaign badly IMO. She also let Trump intimidate her during the debate when he was lurking behind her threateningly.
This time the Trump team is demanding that participants must stay at their podiums. It seems like he's afraid of an "angry black woman" getting too close to him.

Somebody on twitter (before it was ruined by Musk) told a story about an encounter with Trump at a birthday party for a certain black actor. Out of the blue Trump asked the guy; "Have you ever fucked a n***? I haven't."
The guy was unknown to Trump. That's how he talks to complete strangers.
