Apologies for butting in on this board, but readers may be interested in this story from the CBC, about a transman and his pregnancy experience.

I’d like to know more about why the doctor thought stomach issue meant she had a pituitary tumour - a gland in your brain that produces hormones.

Also - the baby has a normally proportioned head, she is just frickin tiny. Growth stunted by puberty blockers?

coldandheat · 04/08/2024 17:47

Pps are being quite unpleasant about the mother. We don't know what she was told or if she was told she could not get pregnant. I have pcos and when diagnosed was told by my GP, when I was about 18 years old, about that if I ever wanted to get pregnant they could give me treatment to help me get pregnant. I took that to mean I could not get pregnant without assistance, was consequently careless about contraception and ended up pregnant.

Gender medics are not well known for their evidenced and objective advice, so this young woman may not have been well advised and will have been living in the rather reality detached world of gender ideology for all of her adult life.

NewGirlinClass · 04/08/2024 17:50

This is the first time I have heard of this case. Surely we must verify and then use it as part of any argument about Trans people.
It is horrible to contemplate the effects on the poor child.

We know from those poor East German athletes who were given testosterone that taking it can have terrible effects on children - even if the babies are born many years after taking T has stopped.

It's a horrible thing to risk doing to a child.

That baby is fawking MASSIVE, her poor vagina.

-misses point of thread entirely-

That is not a photo of a new born 🙄 And you also don't know if it was a vaginal birth.

And can people stop making nasty comments about the baby. Its not got a weirdly big head and the Father has quite a large head, so not exactly a surprise anyway.

Mother nature keeps taking her revenge ,on people who can't take her hints...

Yes, but there was still a chance, even if it was a small chance. She is still a woman and had a 1.8% chance of getting pregnant. She got pregnant. It's lucky but hardly a miracle of science

True, which is why transmen are told to use contraception.
Not saying miraculous at all - am saying it would be surprising (fertility of 45 years + is <5% so half that again, many would be shocked. Doesn't mean it can't happen though, you're right on that).

I'm more interested in what the health professionals thought they were doing.

Its doesn't matter how low the chance is.

It doesn't matter how much the patient tells you it's impossible that they could be pregnant.

Female with ovary and uterus + sperm can = baby, and this needs to be ruled out when the female, sexually active patient describes symptoms like this.

It's like they've swallowed so much genderwoo that their brains have gone soft and they're not fully safe to practice.

Gingernaut · 04/08/2024 17:55

It is very strange that regular heterosexual piv sex doesn’t trigger the mother’s dysphoria.

I'm with @Sandyankles on this one.

WTAF??

elliejjtiny · 04/08/2024 17:56

outdamnedspots · 04/08/2024 17:26

Ffs, how stupid are some people? Regularly having PIV sex, taking no precautions, surprised to get pg?!

What's the likely effect on the baby of the testosterone?!

And what other resources did he want for 'pregnant men'? A normal pg book would work.

God.

Reminds me of when I was diagnosed with asthma and the gp gave me a book called "John has asthma" and apologised for having run out of "Janet has asthma" which was the same book with some of the words and pictures changed. Maybe that's the kind of thing he was hoping for! I didn't care which book I got but I was miffed when I found out that in the book, John got to go in an ambulance when his asthma as bad and I never did!

NewGreenDuck · 04/08/2024 17:56

' Pregnant man', ' gay couple', woman who thinks she's a father. It's all there!

Ducal · 04/08/2024 18:00

I love the idea that people were turning away from them at baby groups because they’re gay. She doesn’t look remotely masculine.

BunnyLake · 04/08/2024 18:02

So they’re having heterosexual sex or did I miss something? If it’s a surprise then it couldn’t have been IVF.

HeySummerWhereAreYou · 04/08/2024 18:03

DuesToTheDirt · 04/08/2024 18:04

"Even though I'm not a mother, I still popped the child out of me," said Sandifer.

I'll just put that there to speak for itself.

Movinghouseatlast · 04/08/2024 18:11

Lupin. Poor child.

CanadianJohn · 04/08/2024 18:16

Warning: I'm far right on the trans thing. I believe that 50% are just trying a new gender, to see what it is like, and 50% are mentally ill. Maybe 1 per 1000 is genuinely "a woman trapped in a man's body", or the reverse.

That said, in this case, assuming the transman has the usual female anatomy, does he/she not experience massive gender dysphoria when urinating, when having PIV sex.

I'm glad I'm old.

OP posts:
Pemba · 04/08/2024 18:19

Sandifer is the mother, not the father of course , whatever they've convinced themselves.
And the biological father is the father, or what are they (plural) telling themselves about that?
Possible effects of hormones on the baby are quite worrying, yes.

Illusionpalace · 04/08/2024 18:23

This is all kinds of crazy. What were the medical professionals thinking to consider cancer before pregnancy?
And seriously, people avoid them ‘because they’re gay?’
People avoid them because they don’t want to be gaslit and forced to be complicit in this ridiculous dangerous craze.

TemuSpecialBuy · 04/08/2024 18:24

Sandyankles · 04/08/2024 17:18

The photo just looks like a large man, a tiny bald woman and a massive baby.

Heterosexual couple of baby - and everyone pretends to be surprised.

It is very strange that regular heterosexual piv sex doesn’t trigger the mother’s dysphoria.

Agreed… absolutely bizarre

heterosexual sex and GIVING birth somehow doesn’t trigger dysphoria

shocked medical professionals considered cancer before pregnancy.

diddl · 04/08/2024 18:27

This is all kinds of crazy. What were the medical professionals thinking to consider cancer before pregnancy?

Perhaps they were thinking that this "gay man" wasn't having PIV sex?

Minefield!

Wow thank you doctor, I never would've got to the bottom of that without you!

Still a fucking huge baby. It's literally on their Instagram "our baby is huge" (and born by C so you were at least right there) so you can keep your 🙄🙄🙄 to yourself duck.

NowItsMeMyselfAndI · 04/08/2024 18:34

Slightly off topic but my SiL has naturally high testosterone levels and was told it might make pregnancy less likely. Despite that she did conceive and her baby’s head was absolutely enormous with a similarly bulging forehead, just like Lupin’s. Baby grew up and his body caught up with his head and ended up being completely normal. Strange though, I never made a connection between the two things before now.

Riapia · 04/08/2024 18:38

So it was the woman’s body that the man was trapped in that conceived.
That was rather deceptive of her/him.

AngleClara · 04/08/2024 18:40

The comment you quoted clearly wasn't mean to be nasty🙄

And they are correct, the baby does look enormous. Probably because the "birthing parent" is quite small. Still, he's cute!
