Looking for some positivity - man's world

The world is set up for men and I just can't be bothered anymore.

Dh and I have twins and I became a SAHM as I earned less than dh. Lockdown happened and the little support I had vanished. Following this I returned to work - and it's been really difficult for reasons that would out me including sexual harassment and bullying.

I have recently come to see how sexist the world is and how little support there is for women out there and I'm sad basically.

Looking for some positivity I guess.

I agree. Also found out post children and it’s taken its toll on me. I think there are many fed up, talented, capable women out there who are not getting where they would have EASILY/ as a matter of course if they were a man. I now speak up not just for myself, but also for other women when I see them treated unfairly. In fact, the latter seems way more effective so I will keep doing this. We need to support each other (and I’m baffled why some women refuse to, I hope it’s getting less though). My best wishes to you x

I'm afraid the world is patriarchal and misogynistic. At times, everything seems to be against you.

So agree...

We need to support each other - and speak up for others

This is what gives me hope - the amazing power of women working together, and the huge support I have had from women throughout my life.... it cannot be underestimated

Came on here looking for a thread such as this tonight as I'm feeling increasingly depressed about this. I've always been a feminist. I've always known it's a man's world. I work in a very male-dominated sector and I'm in my early 40s so this isn't new to me. But something about various cumulative shitty #everydaysexism things happening in my team at work that for the past couple of months I've been noticing more and more is really really depressing me right now. Like every day a new thing and I think come on, like SERIOUSLY?! How, in 2024?!.

I feel for you. Breaking up mysogonistic/sexist group think in male dominated settings…… I dont know how you would go about that, Im in my 60s now, I look back and (like you in a male dominated business) and although I realised it (Im also a feminist) I didn’t realise how negatively it affected me over time, (financially, self worth, esteem) thinking back I was pretty challenging on the sexism and honestly I dont think that did me any favours, but honestly even the more “girly” flirty women didn’t actually fare any better, it was a mans world and the women were just there to be used and exploited. In hindsight its hard to say if I would do anything differently, its a different world now, you can get cancelled for anything. But you have made me remember all the stress and worry I carried during that time and its easy to say it doesn’t matter in the long run, but actually it does, because these things take a toll. And I used to look back and think I should have done this or that, but now i realise it would not have made a jot of difference to the situation, and probably would have just made me more frustrated. However do I think my challenges ever made a difference in the men’s attitude? I doubt it, but on reflection I would rather have challenged than stayed quiet, I just hope one challenge maybe made a difference to someone in a good way, but yes its very depressing that you are likely dealing with the same attitudes and issues I was 20 years ago. I used to think men were progressing, but now I think we are going backwards (Trans, Trad wives etc) I stand with you though! I hope its a good/interesting/fulfilling job and or with good money, otherwise get out! good luck and keep smiling.
