why do threads get deleted?

Thisisntthowisawthisgoing · 15/07/2024 09:58

A thread asking a question went up this morning gone up and has now been removed. The second or third comment said it would be due to breaking talk guidelines, and then it was gone. But I have no idea why. Can someone explain? Kindly please. We learn through seeking understanding and that's all I'm doing. I wish I'd asked the person who forecast it being taken down!

I've read the talk guidelines but more often than not I still can't see the exact rule which was broken in the individual circumstances.

  • Was it the man who likes wearing 'women's clothes'? Because if so it seemed obvious to me that he was just there to bait. Commonly known on here as a goady fucker. Therefore a whole thread simply designed to goad and upset. So breaking this guideline - No trolling, misleading or deliberately inflammatory behaviour

That's interesting it was obvious to you. Went right over my head. Things often do.

Thanks for taking the time to explain

Or it may have had that vile, disgusting word in it that gets things deleted as soon as it is in a post - I will try and write it in a different way so that this post isn't deleted. Be prepared to shield your eyes from the awfulness of the word OP

Is this a joke? Why would this word trigger auto deletion? I feel like I am missing something here

KeirSpoutsTwaddle · 15/07/2024 10:31

@Lavenderfields121 a prolific troll inciting stories about footwear. So this way it’s sorted automatically 🤣
See also trigger words in adverts for illegal substances.

best not to demonstrate the work around as it will help the scammers and trolls circumvent the safety net.

There’s a plmsls troll.

Back in the day there was a troll called Mitmoo & all posts including the username got deleted.

KeirSpoutsTwaddle · 15/07/2024 10:34

@Thisisntthowisawthisgoing when you’ve been around a bit you see a post and your heart sinks- certain phrases or questions invite intolerant responses that get screenshot and used as proof of MN hatefulness.

And some posts are just hateful, bigoted, ableist and shouldn’t stand.

Though generally I’m a fan of people exposing their own bigotry and being soundly schooled by everyone else.

Do you know the background here - that for a long time Mumsnet was one of the very few places online where it was possible to talk about gender ideology & women’s sex based rights?

This led to a lovely bunch known as the Misogynist Monitors, who like to report threads they disapprove of, moan about us on Twitter etc & even start goady threads in order to harvest screenshots. Long term FWR regulars have developed a strong radar for this kind of thing.

CheeseSandwichRiskAssessment · 15/07/2024 10:44

It's very simple, men who post here for sexual gratification aren't welcome.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 15/07/2024 10:44

Ask yourself why he felt the need to post said thread on the feminist board, OP.

Write the word I have written in the usual way and see what happens!

Ereshkigalangcleg · 15/07/2024 10:58

That's not why this particular thread was deleted.

EachandEveryone · 18/07/2024 15:56

Are you talking about the men in bras? I didn’t realise it had turned goady but I’m annoyed I’ve lost the links to the decent over head bras I wanted to buy to cheer myself up during chemo.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 18/07/2024 16:16

This thread is from Monday, that thread was started today. But you're right about the theme being similar.

EachandEveryone · 18/07/2024 17:44

Why aren’t we allowed to talk about stuff?

You are kidding me??? Seriously??? I used that word in a post today - innocently, about shoes to wear with a dress (i'm 60 with fat feet, bad knees and bunions) and my post has been withheld whilst admin take a look at it! I thought I might have been rude, unkind or something... not mistaken for a hairy bridge dweller...

Pinkchicken75 · 27/10/2024 16:33

Annoyingly a thread i'm on has been deleted b4 I had chance to read OP's Update!! urgh.... not sure if anyone else read it the "where husband was caught cheating whilst drunk"
