WRN members have been active all over the country during the election campaign and it now continues its advocacy for women's rights with the new government.

From its weekly newsletter, which you can sign up to receive in your email, as I do, even if you are not a member www.womensrights.network/.

"WRN on Labour and Women

While the stance of the Labour Party on women’s rights has shifted considerably recently (thanks to the hard work of many), we are not complacent by any means.

We will be writing to the new Cabinet to ensure they uphold the rights of women to:
Define ourselves according to our sex
Uphold our right to privacy, dignity and safety in single-sex spaces
Uphold our right to single-sex services
Clarify ‘sex’ in the Equality Act

Record numbers of women are now sitting in the House of Commons. This is an incredible achievement. We call upon those women to secure their and our sex-based rights. To be courageous and speak out. To ensure women’s rights are protected. And we call upon their colleagues to openly support them. The toxicity and abuse must end. And the gaslighting by leaders falsely claiming ‘both sides’ must stop. Now. No debate is over.

We thank all women and men who have moved the dial on women’s rights. We particularly thank the women who put themselves forward for election despite the abuse, the threats, and the slashed tyres. Your courage in doing so was remarkable. We fight on together. #RespectMySex."
