Men and their menopause

A woman I follow on instagram posted a very long post about how menopause is affecting her memory and she keeps getting words mixed up, thought it might be Dementia/Alzheimers, lots of stuff about things she's tried, called it "pink brain" and menopause brain fog, talked about HRT and basically no mistake it was about menopause. At the very very end she asked what we do to regain some clarity. A man then said "I stopped drinking, I found that helped a lot". So me being me I said "I hope that helped with your menopause symptoms". He then replied in a ranty fashion saying it's a well known fact that men also have something similar and lose testosterone and go through a menopause too. Their own special menopause.
Am I being unreasonable to find this annoying, and that a woman can't even discuss menopause without a man butting in and making it about him?

Not unreasonable. Fuck him. I have seen them mansplain about pregnancy and birth as well as menopause.

What men experience as they age is nowhere near comparable to what women experience and there's no reason to think the strategies which work for one would work for the other.

A man would need to have his gonads removed to experience anything like what women go through. They have a slight decline, we fall off a cliff edge! Our bodies have to produce (weaker) sex hormone substitutes or we take HRT, whereas men produce testosterone in their testes in the way they always have. He's talking nonsense.

Although his advice to stop the consumption of aIcohol was good advice. You don’t need to be a woman to know human biology.

We are used to more hormonal stability than men, as they are pretty much in steep decline from age 20.

So menopause is more of a sharp, short shock to us than their slow glide of andropause.

I hope you didn't waste your time engaging with him any further. What a dick. Probably young/ unmarried/ a psycho with no empathy.

Plus in my experience, anyone who uses the phrase 'its a well known fact that...' can usually be safely ignored.

Aaah the old "manopause" 🙄 didn't you know yet that women aren't allowed anything that's just for them 😂

What a tosser.

Whenever i get a man telling me they are having menopause symptoms i say if they are having hot flushes, memory issues, joint pain, mood swings, insomnia, burning tongue, palpitations, anxiety etc. they actually sound quite ill and should see a doctor.

Wot a cad. No man should ever find himself thinking about ladypauses let alone enter into a discourse about them. Ych a fi.
